May Bumps, May Term 2014re Julia & Fordy's 50th bumps race montage by Thomas - Mon 16th Jun 2014, 7:48pm
It is with a touch of sadness and many fond memories that this montage shows how many people you have rowed with during your time at First and Third. I am pleased to have been a fellow oarsman and later a friend to you both.
Thank you both for your commitment and dedication to helping the boat club flourish, both during the good times, and the being bumped times. There are just a few people from my time at Cambridge who I would concede love the club more than I do, and I'm pleased that you are two of those people.
May Bumps, May Term 2009re Overbumping by Mark - Sat 9th Jun 2012, 8:49am
Oh man, I remember this epic. One of the greatest bumps in my time. I think that's me on the very right absolutely loving it!
Lent Bumps, Lent Term 2011re Pushing Off by Peter - Wed 24th Aug 2011, 2:36am
For a moment I wondered if I really row with my hands this far apart, but then I zoomed in. To reassure RTT and others who've tried to cure my 'innovative' outside hand technique, I don't generally row like this; presumably I was doing something with a water bottle.
Head of the River Race, May Term 2011re Coming under Hammersmith by Swords - Tue 5th Apr 2011, 7:50pm
Barrell is comfortably losing the gurn competition in bow IV here. Zoom in for best effect. I think it's between Fordy with the 'protruding chin' and Yimin with the 'battle cry' for the winner though...
Fairbairn Cup, Mich Term 2010re Aaron by Thomas - Thu 20th Jan 2011, 1:46pm
One of the most quizzical expressions I have seen in a while. What's the confusion about?

Do I see a cheeky Lovering face poking out there?

In fact, that's exactly what I remember.
Lent Bumps, Lent Term 2009re Ditton by Mark - Mon 14th Dec 2009, 10:58pm
This is the only section of the race that I really remember.

May Bumps, May Term 2009re Well clear of Maggie at the finish by Richard - Sat 27th Jun 2009, 10:52pm
I didn't have much time to set up the camera before taking this, so the quality is rather low
May Bumps, May Term 2009re Close up of Mark by Mark - Wed 17th Jun 2009, 8:26am
Too close for missiles, switching to guns (not my guns, obviously)
May Bumps, May Term 2009re Past the bumped boat by Mark - Fri 12th Jun 2009, 9:53am

May Bumps, May Term 2009re Rowing past a bump and realising we have to go for the overbump by Simon - Wed 10th Jun 2009, 5:14pm

Lent Bumps, Lent Term 2009re As Close As It Got by BJ - Mon 2nd Mar 2009, 11:37pm
Fletch's excuse for why he never told Emma that Downing had closed was that he 'could see from their catches and body positions that they couldn't sustain it'. I was sceptical until I saw this photo. Good effort from Downing, though - I was scared watching it at the time!
Lent Bumps, Lent Term 2009re Crossing the finish line to retain the Headship by Simon - Mon 2nd Mar 2009, 5:59pm

You never know... one of these days we may fix the site so this can be corrected!! :-)
University IVs, Mich Term 2008re Marshalling at the P&E by Ulrike - Thu 4th Dec 2008, 12:13am
Obviously all of these were not taken by me but by Jamie Gundry - I was just too stupid to do the upload correctly and couldn't find an option to change it afterwards...
Cambridge Head-2-Head, Lent Term 2009re Straightening up by Mark - Sat 24th Jan 2009, 5:06pm

May Bumps, May Term 2008re M2 by Peter - Fri 18th Jul 2008, 11:24pm
Hmm, either we need more inboard or all of bowside need to get a lot thinner...
May Bumps, May Term 2008re Chasing Pembroke by Dan - Tue 24th Jun 2008, 10:24pm
Feel I should point out that we're not racing here. Hence why I'm smiling. Of course, that doesn't excuse me from being ridiculously early, nor the fact that my ootside hoond is noot aroond the hoondle.
May Bumps, May Term 2008re Tom and JPD with the crew await the start by Martin P - Sun 22nd Jun 2008, 11:30pm
Amusing reaction from my girlfriend when she saw this (obviously not having read the title!)... "Oooh, it's JCB!"
May Bumps, May Term 2008re The moment: Head of the Mays by Phil - Wed 18th Jun 2008, 9:16pm

May Bumps, May Term 2008re Peterhouse boat (don't know what she was called) burning nicely by Richard - Mon 16th Jun 2008, 11:58pm
I believe the boat was called Tom Askwith. Named after a former Peterhouse member, and Olympic oarsman.

May Bumps, May Term 2008re At station 1 (the red bridge really spoils it..) by dw229 - Thu 12th Jun 2008, 10:58pm
I can't believe the Maggie scum (?) have painted over the motorway bridge! I haven't been to Cam for ages so admittedly it may have happened some time ago... :)
Still, it reminds me of what a great effort it was to get it painted in the first place. Perhaps it's time for an account of the FATASS project on a member's only part of the website?
May Bumps, May Term 2008re Cauis know it is going to happen by Erica - Thu 12th Jun 2008, 9:08am

Fairbairns Dinner, Mich Term 1999re Ready for dinner! by Simon - Sat 8th Mar 2008, 3:34pm
This had never been done before and we weren't sure it would work. Luckily we found a great caterer who was a big help and was able to set up a kitchen in the weights room and one of the boat bays. We combined it with the boat naming earlier the same day and thus subsidised the costs. Every part of the boathouse and the entire fleet was cleaned, the decorations went up (NB the attempts to make the lights blue and gold), and on the previous Saturday Sophie and I had filled her car with alcohol from a French supermarket.
I was so chuffed to walk into the boathouse and find it looking like this.
Clare Novice Regatta, Mich Term 1997re Crew pasta in Z Blue Boar by Martin P - Wed 5th Mar 2008, 3:20pm
Jesus. What do I look like! Doesn't feel as long ago as it looks....
Cardinal's Regatta, Lent Term 1999re Testing the smokescreen before setting off by Simon - Mon 3rd Mar 2008, 11:39pm
It was too windy in the reach to light the smoke bombs, so we never used them in anger. And the fumes weren't exactly healthy either. Despite the precaution of a collander from Whewell's Court, we still slightly melted the canvas of the boat.
Lent Bumps, Lent Term 2008re Closing nicely by Lorry - Mon 3rd Mar 2008, 12:39pm

Lent Bumps, Lent Term 2008re This is the only photo I got of them because they threw their kit all over the tow path, which took me ages to pick up, and then my bag wasn't big enough so I kept dropping Pedro's pissing shoes by Dan - Thu 28th Feb 2008, 6:11pm

Lent Bumps, Lent Term 2008re What was behind M1 was more exciting by Dan - Thu 28th Feb 2008, 6:08pm
The problem with the white top is that overly fast arms away are clearly visible... not that I can comment on technique - my hands are possibly even lower than Coker's.
