Beeramids by Martin - Fri 7th Oct 2005, 12:16pm
Until now our infamous beeramid has been the largest example of such an erection to be found on the internet. However, after all these years our efforts have finally been outdone... (sent by an anonymous reader) Incidentally, beeramid even has an entry in the Wikipedia. (7 replies...)
JL t-shirts by Erica - Sat 24th Sep 2005, 5:25pm
Has anyone else seen the JL t-shirts that say "ROW FOR PEDRO" on the front and "Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills... feathering skills... catching skills... jumpies skills" on the back? See the JL page . Two (or three) queries: 1. Why Pedro? Is this really random or am I missing something? Is it a quote? 2. What are jumpies? (3. Should I buy one, for $15, or would this jinx my relationship?!?) (7 replies...)
Relative boat speeds by speedy gonzales - Mon 19th Sep 2005, 11:04pm
I was wondering if anyone knows of a reliable table comparing some kind of average boat speed/gold medal times, or anything really to give an idea of relative boat speeds across ALL the different classes. It's very hard to find any info on non-olympic classes, e.g coxed fours, and how they compare, speed wise to other boats. And/or can people offer opinions on this? Is a women's coxed four, for example going to be faster or slower than a women's pair? Women's eights and men's singles? (6 replies...)
Contacts by Andy - Fri 29th Jul 2005, 11:33am
I sent an email to the contacts@cucbc.org list this morning, and I haven't yet received it. Can anyone who is also a member of said list confirm that it isn't working please. Cheers. (17 replies...)

Bumps Starts for W1, M2, M1 by Bryn - Tue 21st Jun 2005, 6:25pm
Marshalling opposite the Plough on Friday gave me the opportunity to take some videos of practice starts for the FaT crews in the top Mays divisions. They are here: W1 M2 M1 When I get some more webspace I might put up a video of the Arrows VIII for comedy value...
Bow tie? by Martin - Tue 14th Jun 2005, 9:34pm
Have discovered I have a spare FaT bow tie. Anyone currently rowing want one? Needs a little bit of a clean and perhaps an iron (can you iron silk?), but is essentially fit for purpose. (9 replies...)

Tide Tables on the BBC by jmg - Wed 25th May 2005, 9:09am
In addition to the controversial new TV forecasts, the BBC seem to have made some quite positive changes to their weather website, including tide tables. Not being a regular on the tideway, I don't know whether this is well known and understood, but I wonder if anyone can explain reasonably simply why the shape of the curve changes so dramatically as you work your way downstream from 'Richmond' Lock to Kew, Hammersmith etc etc etc etc? Also, what effect if any does this have on the stream, particularly where on the curve would you expect the strongest stream? (4 replies...)
Cat n Buns graphic by Atlantic Rowers - Wed 25th May 2005, 8:16am
Does anyone have a good graphic of the cat n buns as it looks on the flag (not on as stitched on kit). Presumably when the new flag was made someone must have had something for that? Any idea what the official colours are for the blue and gold? (1 replies...)
Grand by Simon - Tue 24th May 2005, 7:37pm
I hear OUBC are entering the Grand... any chance of CUBC doing the same?
Bumps pages by KSS - Fri 13th May 2005, 9:14am
Is it at all possible to have the bumps pages play the Radio 1 'Top 40' tune on loop when people browse them? Or perhaps just when they are looking at the bumps tables? I think it would add a lot to the site. (2 replies...)
Website groups overload by Martin - Thu 12th May 2005, 10:11am
There is a need to purge lots of old and unused groups from the website. I've put together a list of groups I think we should ditch, can everyone let me know which of the following should be kept. Some older members may object to some of these, but I reckon that many are used so infrequently now that it would be much better, for current members, to kind of start afresh... Book by AHLF - Sun 8th May 2005, 2:09pm
I'm sure I have seen a book at some point which I thought was by Denys Lawrence which includes all sorts of useful information about Boat Clubs including a chapter on captaincy. Does anyone else have any recollection of such a book, and if so, do you have any information about it? (3 replies...)
BUSA by Give us some competition!-jo - Sat 7th May 2005, 11:27am
Hi everyone, was at BUSA last week competing in Novice (ARA novice) events and it struck me that your girls were way better than most of the crews we came up against, especially in the iv+ event. I was suprised that only a few crews from cambridge bothered entering (magdalene and CUW) especially since Durham entered a huuuuge amount of boats. How come so few college crews enter? Discuss. Where have all the photos gone? by Amelia - Wed 27th Apr 2005, 9:25pm
Lots of photos of happy smiling post-victory people have been taken this year. Not all of them have made it onto the message boards. Those of us without digital cameras of our own, and who have yet to pay Honey for JET prints, are starved of visual evidence of FaT dominance. So all of you people out there with relevant boatie photos taking up space on your data sticks, please post them!!

Club money by just out of interest - Tue 12th Apr 2005, 11:23pm
Is it the whole comittee who decide what the moeny for the year's going to be spent on, or the overall captain/both captains? Only because it occurs to me we are quite in need of some new boathouse equipment, ergs [of which 3 of which have some kind of fault/weirdness, four of which are pretty unusable] & sliders? And how about another [even secdon hand] scull [maybe one designed for slightly lighter people :)?] or just magpie being fixed. Oh, and some clams. They're approximately £2 each.. :) And, further to a conversation I was having the other day, what about some women's croker blades? Also, wouldn't it be worth saving our money and investing in new men's/women's 8s [especially with the demise of bp3] rather than novice shells? Hope this doesn't start too much of a fight, it is largely out of curiosity, just wondering what the thinking is behind our latest boat buying spree? (28 replies...) |
