May Bumps, May Term 2008
re At station 1 (the red bridge really spoils it..) by dw229 - Thu 12th Jun 2008, 10:58pm
I can't believe the Maggie scum (?) have painted over the motorway bridge! I haven't been to Cam for ages so admittedly it may have happened some time ago... :)

Still, it reminds me of what a great effort it was to get it painted in the first place. Perhaps it's time for an account of the FATASS project on a member's only part of the website?

Fairbairns Dinner, Mich Term 1999
re Ready for dinner! by Simon - Sat 8th Mar 2008, 3:34pm
This had never been done before and we weren't sure it would work. Luckily we found a great caterer who was a big help and was able to set up a kitchen in the weights room and one of the boat bays. We combined it with the boat naming earlier the same day and thus subsidised the costs. Every part of the boathouse and the entire fleet was cleaned, the decorations went up (NB the attempts to make the lights blue and gold), and on the previous Saturday Sophie and I had filled her car with alcohol from a French supermarket.
I was so chuffed to walk into the boathouse and find it looking like this.

re Testing the smokescreen before setting off by Simon - Mon 3rd Mar 2008, 11:39pm
It was too windy in the reach to light the smoke bombs, so we never used them in anger. And the fumes weren't exactly healthy either. Despite the precaution of a collander from Whewell's Court, we still slightly melted the canvas of the boat.

The problem with the white top is that overly fast arms away are clearly visible... not that I can comment on technique - my hands are possibly even lower than Coker's.

re But I thought Tom was in Henley?!! by Simon - Tue 27th Mar 2007, 11:00am
Fans of traffic signs will be pleased to hear that this year's crop have arrived and have a slightly different script which I'm sure will produce more anagram possibilities.
If you have no idea what this is all about then I suggest you sign up for the pre-Boat Race tour of the course.
