Although I like the idea of this poll I think it is flawed. Some of us have far too little experience of mays races to be able to make a sensible choice of 4. Despite having rowed for college for both of the last two may terms, I have only ever raced in the Head of the Cam, City Sprints, Peterborough Sprints and May Bumps. So how can I make a reasoned decision?

I have therefore decided to screw up this poll from the beginning and only vote for one race. I suggest everyone else does likewise.

Can't say I've done particularly many of the available options, either.

Well I've 'done' Henley Royal Regatta and enjoyed the Pimms thoroughly. The beer tent on the finish line at Bedford gets my vote too.

Notts City is just great because it's multi-lane and we don't do enough of that and it's also on my favourite course.

Why do you call yourself "old man"?

Because I just had another birthday go by and am feeling particularly ancient.

To make up for Din, I have voted for 7 options, all of them being regattas at which I have had success (and therefore enjoyed)

Notts City... it's also on my favourite course....
what? how? are you mad?

Multi-lane is great and the clubhouse at Holme Pierrepoint has food, chairs and nice girls in lycra :)

lycra-covered food sounds disgusting, and lycra-covered chairs seem pointless...

...where your chat up lines consist of "come here often? poor you", or "let me get out of these wet things"

Perhaps the next poll should be ... "Which regattas/heads have you won pots in during May term? (blades count as pots but spoons dont)" as that would more accurately measure what this question is asking ;)
by RTT - Wed 14th Apr 2004, 9:59am
Or perhaps "Which is the best chat up line to use on a fit boatie you meet at a regatta?"
by dw229 - Wed 14th Apr 2004, 11:04am
I think this is a case where members suggestions are needed first, rather than a vote on someone elses.

So...chat up lines at a regatta...

Is that a rigger jigger in your lycra or are you just pleased to see me?

Do you believe in love at first sight or should I scull by again?

Yes and No... Remember, it's just as much about the beer tents as the taking part in bufty land.
by Dubya - Fri 16th Apr 2004, 10:26am
The beer tents are mostly rubbish though!

Talking of which, how can I get my hands on some Steward's Enclosure tags for Henley this year? Dan H?

Am willing to pay if anyone is a member/knows a member and will buy a couple for me.
