Which is the best track to listen to for maximum erging performance?
(and should therefore be in the bop)
Eye Of The Tiger (Survivor)  50%
The Way (Divine Inspiration)  7%
Castles in the Sky (Ian van Dahl)  3%
Right Here, Right Now (Fatboy Slim)  20%
Don't Stop Me Now (Queen)  20%
Hey Boy Hey Girl (Chemical Brothers)  0%
Gay Bar (Electric Six)  0%
Total: 30 members' votes

I reckon I get "maximum erging performance" to no music at all, therefore I am excluded from this week's poll. It would be good if we could add our own options to some polls - this one being an obvious example (whilst last week's wouldn't need it at all).

Having said that, I don't think 7 minutes of silence would be very popular in the bop. I would also guess that at least two of these tracks will be in the bop whatever the outcome of this poll.

On that point I think you may be right...

I'd be disappointed if there weren't at least four in the bop

EOTT is great to start with but rapidly gets boring and stops being uplifting. RHRN is much better as it is constantly bringing in new lines. It also has that superb bit about 4 mins in when it goes quiet and then the drums storm back in with a vengeance. I used to do my 2ks to it since that gave you a boost somewhere in the third 500m which was usually sorely needed.... HBHG needs a mention as being good for a longer piece (eg. 30' test). It has a nice relentless rhythm which can help you stay settled through those middle 20 minutes. Another omission though; where are Leftfield and Orbital? They're superb for long ergs.

In my day, Crawford and I were randomly at the boathouse to train one evening - to find that we'd both taken the same CD...

I agree with Rose - can I vote for my own ergo CD? Definitely the best for long ergos.

For short ergo stuff "The Way" gets my vote, However, the opening tracks on The Prodigy's album 'Fat of the Land' are awesome for a 20 min FD.

Agree with most of the above, particularly Leftfield for long ergs. Green Day's Dookie is also excellent for a harder long erg with good changes of tempo to keep you interested as your arse starts to go numb

It would appear from the data above that only 5 women have ever done an ergo - still, that's more than ever did them in my day...

EPP clearly hasn't voted yet, with Gay Bar still on nul points...

In your name, are you referring to what you do to the water whilst rowing, Chris?

Whilst the branches of a tree do indeed make an excellent device to be dragged behind a boat to stir the water, I was actually hoping to stir up some defensive responses with the comment. Alas, there don't seem to have been any - maybe there is no defence...

Or perhaps Bookie doesn't read these boards?

Judging from the generally pleasant nature of banter on these boards, I believe this to be true...

Well i don't think any of these tracks are particularly inspiring. I think most of you know what my preference would be!

"Rupert, Rupert the bear. He's the bear that always cares. Rupert, Rupert the bear..."???

This would be a poll where voting for more than one option might be useful. There's more than one good erging tune there.

Ingram's CD is still one of the best. Currently at Vesta I seem to get that O Chihuahua song on every time I'm doing a 2k, which is tiresome. (And it makes me think of the ewoks, who are hardly inspirational 2k-ers, not with legs that short) But even that beats the Country and Western CD with some git put on which I was doing a 6k a few weeks back.

Ooops. sorry. It shouldn't do that. I've tweaked a couple of things so that hopefully it won't again.

Why is everyone hassling me whenever they see me about why ive not voted for gay bar? while its one of my favourite ganthems of all time, surely were it played during an erg it would have a bad effect on my split, rowing with limp wrists cant be very efficient can it?!?
