Robbie Williams fan club by Martin P - Thu 25th May 2006, 12:50pm
Does anyone know anyone who is a member of the Robbie Williams Fan Club? This is a serious request. Apparently there is an annual fee to join. Members can buy priority tickets to concerts and a friend (honest) is wanting tickets for a concert in Sydney (which go on sale on the 6th June)...... I appreciate this looks really odd, but genuine offers of assistance would be appreciated! Anyone? (1 replies...)
This term's results by Martin P - Mon 15th May 2006, 10:06pm
Does anyone know of (and can spot) any results from this term still missing? I've done a bit of a check through, added a few missing ones I noticed from the small boats regatta and tidied up a few loose ends. It's really great so many (almost all) results are getting put into this thing, but please try and get it done even when the races don't go as hoped. Also added the usual college archives (sorry these are so late) for the Head of the Cam and the Head 2 Head.
CUCBC Flags by Bryn - Thu 20th Apr 2006, 9:15am
Why are the CUCBC flags funny colours now? In recent times we have had 'The flag is GDBO' and the 'The flag is Cambridge Blue'. Do these mean anything or is it a joke? (4 replies...)
Pump it up by Neil - Wed 5th Apr 2006, 3:08pm
According to ITV's commentary yesterday, Oxford had a pump in the boat while Cambridge didn't. Could anyone with insider knowledge please confirm whether this is accurate, and if so, what this pump looks like and how it is fitted / operated? And was Cambridge's decision not to fit one tactical or was there some other reason? (18 replies...)
Who to support? by Rich - Sat 18th Mar 2006, 12:04am
The Tideway Slug reports that Cambridge race against Leander in a fixture this weekend. Normally the support for Cambridge would be unequivocal, but I also note that Leander is to be coxed by 1+3 alumnus Steph Richards. Maybe we could hope for a Cambridge victory, but made much closer because of Leander's steering? (3 replies...)
BumpIt by Simon - Wed 15th Mar 2006, 2:29pm
It's cool, well done people. Just alarmed that it apeared between midnight Saturday night and 7am Sunday morning - it's bad enought that I have to work over the weekend (and thus engage work avoidance tactics like looking at the website) - hope you managed to get some sleep! (50 replies...)

The Varsity Football Match 2006 has been confirmed for April 2nd 2006, at Fulham's Craven Cottage ground at 1pm. That is three hours before the Boat Race starts on the river behind the ground. Tickets are £10 which gives you access to the newly re-developed Fulham village; a complex of bars, restaurants and cafes, match programme, Riverside Stand seating for the match and prime viewing space on the Riverside Terrace for the Goldie and Isis Race which is due to start at 4pm, and the 152nd University Boat Race, due to start at 4.35pm. Lottery funding by Moneybags - Thu 15th Dec 2005, 11:51am
This might be of interest to some of you: http://www.lottery2009.culture.gov.uk/ The government are conducting a survey to determine how the lottery money spent on arts, heritage and sports should be split between these three areas. The link to the survey's on the right hand side.
Beeramids by Martin - Mon 10th Oct 2005, 5:27pm
Until now our infamous beeramid has been the largest example of such an erection to be found on the internet. However, after all these years our efforts have finally been outdone... (sent by an anonymous reader) Incidentally, beeramid even has an entry in the Wikipedia. (7 replies...)
JL t-shirts by Erica - Tue 27th Sep 2005, 10:02pm
Has anyone else seen the JL t-shirts that say "ROW FOR PEDRO" on the front and "Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills... feathering skills... catching skills... jumpies skills" on the back? See the JL page . Two (or three) queries: 1. Why Pedro? Is this really random or am I missing something? Is it a quote? 2. What are jumpies? (3. Should I buy one, for $15, or would this jinx my relationship?!?) (7 replies...)
Relative boat speeds by speedy gonzales - Tue 20th Sep 2005, 4:14pm
I was wondering if anyone knows of a reliable table comparing some kind of average boat speed/gold medal times, or anything really to give an idea of relative boat speeds across ALL the different classes. It's very hard to find any info on non-olympic classes, e.g coxed fours, and how they compare, speed wise to other boats. And/or can people offer opinions on this? Is a women's coxed four, for example going to be faster or slower than a women's pair? Women's eights and men's singles? (6 replies...)
Contacts by Andy - Wed 3rd Aug 2005, 3:07pm
I sent an email to the contacts@cucbc.org list this morning, and I haven't yet received it. Can anyone who is also a member of said list confirm that it isn't working please. Cheers. (17 replies...)

Bow tie? by Martin - Thu 23rd Jun 2005, 10:31pm
Have discovered I have a spare FaT bow tie. Anyone currently rowing want one? Needs a little bit of a clean and perhaps an iron (can you iron silk?), but is essentially fit for purpose. (9 replies...)

Website groups overload by Martin - Sat 4th Jun 2005, 11:59pm
There is a need to purge lots of old and unused groups from the website. I've put together a list of groups I think we should ditch, can everyone let me know which of the following should be kept. Some older members may object to some of these, but I reckon that many are used so infrequently now that it would be much better, for current members, to kind of start afresh... Tide Tables on the BBC by jmg - Fri 27th May 2005, 9:10am
In addition to the controversial new TV forecasts, the BBC seem to have made some quite positive changes to their weather website, including tide tables. Not being a regular on the tideway, I don't know whether this is well known and understood, but I wonder if anyone can explain reasonably simply why the shape of the curve changes so dramatically as you work your way downstream from 'Richmond' Lock to Kew, Hammersmith etc etc etc etc? Also, what effect if any does this have on the stream, particularly where on the curve would you expect the strongest stream? (4 replies...) |
