Eel

Maker: Janousek
Made in: 2007
Bought in: Lent term, 2007
Named by: Martin Peck (Captain 1999-2000), 2007

Pike and Eel were bought along with a new Black Prince and Valkyrie as part of bulk purchase from Janousek in early 2007. They are named after one of the pubs on the River Cam, which, although now actually called the Penny Ferry, is still called the Pike and Eel by the majority of Cambridge rowers. Eel is the lighter-rated of the two sculls and is intended for use by women.
