Since this is Lent term, and given the positions in the bumps and likely threat, I hate Caius most. But my default answer would have been Downing. Hating Caius in the Mays is stupid - the boats they have been putting out recently have been extremely impressive and worthy of respect, plus they don't affect our results.

can't we have an option for Magdalene?
by mjb - Tue 18th Jan 2005, 3:14pm
Got to be Downing
by jo - Tue 18th Jan 2005, 3:39pm
but magdalene are the club with all the love! they can't be an option on this poll!

Um..? Surely this is a prime opportunity for some unfounded Maggie hating? Or some slagging off of the 'other place'? The real debate is: which is worse - scum or filth?

Nah, well-founded hatred, such as that felt towards downing, should definitely take priority.

Maybe maggie is short for Magdalene as well, both being scum, if different shades of rotting-tomato.

I can't believe my eyes! the horror! unfair victimisation of a sterling college i think!

Ideal topic for a song, don't you think

In the spirit of the grammatical pedantry that occasionally arises on this website, should the title of this poll not be "Whom do we hate most?"?

What about "Whom do we most hate?"?

I simply refer you to one of Fisher's finest quotes: "We hate Maggie because it's tradition, but we hate Downing because they're...."

Is the quotes page searchable, Martin?

Doesn't your browser have a search function ?
And that quote doesn't seem to be there (yet)

I think Mr. Fisher told me that one in the crew room just before we bumped Downing on the last day of the Mays 2003. Classic.

It doesn't rhyme, Tom

No, you know it isn't.

Am itching to get the site search function working again now that there is soooo much content... (I just had a look - there are 3552 race+regatta results, 1296 race reports, 5573 message board posts, 3813 photos - not sure how many other pages.)

I'd also like to add the facility to add comments (i.e. message board type posts) to photos.

And then there's some improvements to bumps charts I'd also like to get done (.e.g. multiple year charts, crew specific charts)....

Time is a problem (maybe around Lents when I have some time off!), so if anyone has any views on relative priority...

I think you once said that rowing is the first priority...

Surely prioritising is the first priority...?

No, rowing is the first priority. Because it's always the first priority you don't have to prioritise prioritising it.

But if that's the case, someone must have done some prioritising in the past to make it happen. Maybe that was some kind of meta-prioritising that doesn't get ranked in the normal scheme of prioritising.

This is merely prior prioritising...

And getting far too philosophical.

So philosophising is not a high priority for you?
