Strange, I'd have thought that "They won't" and "Also click here if you think it'll involve a massive blade clash" would be mutually exclusive events...

On the contrary, surely perfectly reasonable to imagine that they might not be!

That's what happens when you let silly dark-siders near a not-quite-perfectly-set-up poll ... :-)

Although if you envisage an epic side-by-side battle all the way along the course, with at least one blade clash, ticking all the boxes might be appropriate ...

We're going to have to switch to woodens...

Note to anyone actually racing in said 4-: the 77% of people who predict a blade clash must not have erred! Do not fail us!

It's not really up to them... Fours Head Rule 17:
"Crews being overtaken to maintain course relative to stream and not change course so as to impede any overtaking crew. Overtaking crews to steer clear of crews they are overtaking."

Don't give them an inch guys...

Don't worry; Ingram's a taker. Gavin from Spartan told me when I rang up about peekaboo crotchless leggings.

Simon, you're assuming the IV- don't want to get fined or disqualified. I say that's a small price to pay for the comedy value of chasing CUBC around the river.

"If judged by her use of the opinion polls, Esther is likely to be a) blonde, b) female c) at Oxford". This is a good example of why it can be good to allow ticking every box.

Rather than resetting it again, maybe we should just have a separate page covered with lots and lots and lots of little tick boxes so Esther can merrily tick away and not have to bother herself with any difficult questions.

On the other hand, I am told that God's response did actually come across as inviting you to try the same again... For that, I apologise - I had no idea. If I can be arsed to reset it a second time you might like to take my word for it that the same will infact happen a third time if you repeat your performance.

ha. foiled again. having discovered that it is a flying start they could actually be overtaken BEFORE the start itself. This results in disqualification of the offending crew which could result in all number of outcomes along the course not mentioned here.

Shocking lack of research on God's part. Too busy creating winds and waves for saturday obviously.

the male/female divide on this one is interesting. The men seem fairly convinced the crew will last at least 2 to 4 minutes into the race (to the bandstand or so) before Goldie get them, while the women seem to expect it to take less than a minute. But at least everyone's agreed on the clash issue!

Well, we can now announce what actually happened...

Goldie were obviously in on this poll as they chose to start with overlap on us! However, a combination of a good start by us and some atrocious steering by them meant that they didn't get ahead until Barnes Bridge and didn't get clear water until the Bandstand. Hence, our poll has been quite accurate. Alas, the 76% predicting a blade clash were proved inaccurate as they were nowhere near us.
