Cambridge Small Boats Head
Sat 16th October
A 2600m timed head race for small boats (sculls, pairs, doubles and quads)
Being right at the start of term, it is unusual to see many college entries in this event. Pia and Ailanore entered in a pair - and were winners on account of being the only entrants in their category.

Head of the Charles
Sat 23rd - Sun 24th October
A high profile head race upstream on the Charles River, Boston-Cambridge, Massachusetts USA
For the fourth year, our old boys club, "Black Prince Boat Club" organised a squad to travel. For the first time 3 crews entered: 2 men's coxed 4s and a women's coxed 4.

University IVs
Mon 1st - Thu 4th November
A knockout competition for Cambridge College IVs over 2800m (light IVs), 2000m (men's coxed IVs) or 1300m (women's coxed IVs)
For College senior crews, traditionally the most prestigious event of term, and the main focus of the first half of term for the better senior College crews.

1st men's IV, Australian Rhythm (Light IVs): Lost to Pembroke by 5s in re-row (after a dead-heat) in the semi finals
1st women's IV (1st division): Lost to Tit Hall (3 lengths) in the heats
2nd men's IV (1st division): Lost to Wolfson by 6s in the heats
2nd women's IV (2nd division): Beat Emma II by three lengths in the quarter finals and Dominated, Derailed and lost undeserved to Clare II in the semi finals
3rd men's IV (2nd division): Lost to Downing II by 19s in the quarter finals

Queens' Novice Ergo Competition
Tue 2nd November
A 500m team ergo competition for Novice VIIIs
The first taste of competition for the novice squads, most of the college boat clubs enter their novice crews in to this fun event.

Head of the River IVs
Sat 6th November
A processional head race over the University Boat Race Course for Fours and Quads
550 crews enter this national event. The top college IVs usually aim to join the likes of Olympic Gold medallists Matt Pinsent and James Cracknell in this presitigious race.

Cambridge Winter Head
Sat 13th November
A timed head race over 2300m, from the Motorway bridge to the Pike & Eel
For senior crews this is the final race preparation for Fairbairns and can be a valuable form guide; for a few novice crews, a chance to try out racing before the upcoming Clare Novice Regatta.

Clare Novice Regatta
Thu 25th - Sat 27th November
A side-by-side knock out regatta for Cambridge College novice (beginner) VIIIs
With just a week before Novice Fairbairns, the "Clare Novices" offer all-important race practice and exciting side by side racing. Most college novice VIIIs enter.

1st men's novice VIII (Cup): beat Churchill A easily in the 1st round and lost to Jesus A by 2 lengths in a re-row in the 2nd round
1st women's novice VIII (Cup): Raced 3 rounds: lost to Jesus A by 3 lengths in the quarter finals
2nd men's novice VIII (Cup): Raced 3 rounds: lost to Maggie A by 3 lengths in the semi finals
2nd women's novice VIII (Plate): lost to Queen's B by 3 lengths in the 1st round
3rd men's novice VIII (Plate): beat Magdalene B by about 4 lengths in the 1st round and beaten by Maggie C (SCUM!) by about 2 lengths in the 2nd round
3rd women's novice VIII (Plate): Raced 3 rounds: Lost to Queens' C by 3 lengths in the semi finals
4th men's novice VIII (Plate): Raced 3 rounds: lost to Queens' B by 4 lengths in the quarter finals

Novice Fairbairn Cup
Thu 2nd December
A 2700m timed head race on the Cam for Cambridge College novice VIIIs
The main focus for Michaelmas term for all novice crews at Cambridge University.

Fairbairn Cup
Fri 3rd December
A 4300m timed head race on the Cam for VIIIs
The main focus of Michaelmas term for all Cambridge college senior crews.

Fairbairn Cup - IVs
Fri 3rd December
A 3200m timed head race on the Cam for College IVs
Subsidary to the VIIIs event, a handfull of college crews usually enter.
