About the Archive

Coverage

The results section contains complete results since October 2000, and also complete senior men's and other principal results since October 1997.

The archive since 2000 has been accumulating on the club's website. Prior to that, the best records we possess are the Captain's log books, although regrettably their coverage is erratic. The men's Captain's book has a relatively complete account of the senior (top 2) men's VIIIs between at least around 1994 and 2000 and Guy Taylor has transferred a lot of this material - as far back as Lents 1997 - to the website. For added interest the Captain's comments have been adapted where relevant (and suitable). The Captain's log book at the time of its writing is not intended for the public (or even the whole club), explaining the contrasting style of this earlier commentary.

All the information found in this archive has been entered using the online forms, so it should be straightforward for anyone who wants to help fill in some of the gaps to do so. If you can help with any of the below contact admin@firstandthird.org. For the record as it stands since 1997 here are Guy's notes of the areas which are missing information:

Women

There are more gaps than not in the women's crews and entries. May crews all fine for 2000 and 1999, but otherwise none. Some entries and results for head races and bumps but otherwise none. The women's captains book may be able provide much of the missing information.

Men

Mich 1997 - All novice crews

          - Novice Fairbairns results

Lent 1998 - Pembroke Regatta entries/results other than 1st men

May 1998  - Cam Sprints entries/results for lower boats

Mich 1998 - All VIIIs crews
          - Clare novice entries/results

Lent 1999 - Lower boats (3rd, 4th, 5th) crews
          - Pembroke Regatta entries/results for lower boats

May 1999  - 12th men's VIII crew in GoR
          - 1st men's crew for BUSA
          - Head of the Cam entries (have the results, 
                     but can't match to crews)
          - Cam Sprints entries/results for lower boats

Mich 1999 - Crews of 3rd, 4th novices
          - Autumn Head novice crews (only cos I remember
                                    they were different)

Lent 2000 - Crews of 3rd, 4th, 5th men
          - Pembroke Regatta entries/results other than 1st men

May 2000  - Cam Sprints entries/results for lower boats

And generally crew orders might be dodgy occasionally where it wasn't specifically stated.

About the database

Martin Peck, webmaster from 2000 - 2002, established the results archive and was responsible for maintaining it. Since May 2002 members have been able to submit results and race reports to the site directly, easing the task of keeping it up to date and resulting in more varied commentary.

The system for submitting results & crew lists and viewing the archive was written by Martin Peck and completed early 2003.
