BPBC 1st men's IV, Invitation IV's

2nd Invitational IV, 2nd overall
Time: 11:18
Over time you usually forget how bad things were - but I distinctly remembered how awful I felt during the IVs race last year. From the start this was a tired row but we found a decent rythym after a while although never managed the punchy rate that we normally hit when Stephen is stroking. It was always unlikely that we'd done enough to win but coming a clear second behind a fresh crew was a fair result on the day. (Dan)

BPBC 2nd men's IV, Invitation IV's

3rd invitational IV, 4th overall
Time: 11:28
Frankly, this was a bit of a mess. A virtually snoring bow man plus three knackered blokes in the stern didn't give much opportunity for settling into a powerful rhythm, so we just hoofed it as best we could, with personal pushes whose frequency and duration dropped steadily over the course. There was a nice bit by Simoco but the rest was dire. Oh well. At least we beat / drew with all the other alumni clubs. (Rose the Twat)

1st men's IV, College IVs

13th College IV, 18th overall
Time: 12:53
Despite having to abandon BA Christmas dinner the previous night due to some sort of food poisoning bug I decided not to waste a term's training and a few day's abstinence so I decided to row with the benefit of some extra layers. The race wasn't too bad but sitting in plough reach for an hour afterwards half killed me.

As for the race, we kept our rating where we wanted it and kept together. If only we could remember the changes we make at technical calls for more than 10 strokes. (Neil)

1st women's IV, College IVs

2nd College IV, 3rd overall
Time: 13:12
They were going to get beaten... they really, really had it coming... but we had done an VIIIs race before.

Unfortunately, we failed to hit our target of beating Magdalene's 1st IV which had relegated us so insultingly comfortably to 2nd place in both the HoRR and the Winter Head. In the end, we weren't man enough, I reckon. We didn't quite believe we could have them and to be quite honest, that lactate set in painfully soon after the start.

Definitely not one of our nicest rows, but still one to be pleased with, and with the narrowest margins between us and those ex-CUW amazones all term, if that is of any consellation...

What is good to see is how much faster we were than the rest of the College IVs. :)

As I said at the dinner... aubergine-violet is this term's red!

Second out of two? hmm... never mind. Still, we beat some first fours, and it wasn't as bad as we thought it was going to be [we were considering "falling" in to avoid racing]. But did Fitz start off that much behind us? (Lilie)
Hehe... beat LMBC 1... ;)
