Mich Term Bop Requests by Optimistic - Sat 22nd Jun 2002, 5:47pm
Just thought I'd get in early Iain. Can we have "Move in a little closer baby" by Mama Cass? Listen to it. It's not as slow as the title sounds.

All bop requests are now welcome. Management (i.e me!) reserves the right to ignore any suggestion!

Mr. Gauss-Seidel said: "O Come All Ye Faithful". No Boat Club bop would be complete without a jazz number, and 'Fathful forever' by legendary swinger Glenn Miller seems like the obvious choice.

Mr. Riemann-Zeta said: "Forever and a Day" I've noticed that we've not yet had anything by Ol' Blue Eyes, so let's have 'A day in the life of a fool' at this point. (I'd like to stress that I'm not thinking of any woman in particular here.)

Mr Atmosphere-Ocean said: let's have 'A day in the life of a fool' at this point. This is the perfect time to throw "Fool for you" by our old pal Rod Stewart into the ring. Some Rod repetition is perhaps regrettable, but rods are axially symmetric and therefore easy to solve.

Mr. Navier-Stokes said: "Fool for you" by our old pal Rod Stewart The porters are lurking by the door now, so we'd better turn up the volume and put 'You are my very special baby' by Mac Curtis onto the turntable before it's too late...

Mr Peano-Kernel said: 'You are my very special baby' Some people will have left by this time so a chance to sneak in a slow song. It's a bit of an odd-ball, but certainly a long-time favourite of mine: "Baby please don't leave" by Jesse Lee Turner. Everyone will have left by the end of this. But they're missing out, because those in the know are about to start over again...

I thought the bop this term was one of the most enjoyable for a long time. I had a curious feeling at the time that I couldn't tell whether the WPR was crowded or almost empty. I kept lurching from one conclusion to the other. Three days later and I'm still at a loss. What's the answer?

Perspective works in time too said: What's the answer? It looks a lot bigger now that it's painted white and scum, so it needs more people to make it look full. However, I think we've had bigger (and smaller) bops, but not as much incest for a while now.

Mike said: You were drunk... Wow Mike, how did you..? It's like you were there inside my head or something....freaky.I think people were arranged quite isotropically around the dancefloor. Perhaps this could be the solution?

Simon said: Not necessarily... could be as few as 9 (or less, but lets not go there). Of course, 5 people could create 10 new links, so 8 new links definitely doesn't require 16 people. Can I be taken off the chart now?

dw said: 8? Wow...that's 16 people! In fact, we only require 5 people for 8 new links, although if we assume complete heterosexuality, we need 6.In reality, 15 people were involved in creating the 8 links, which in my opinion is a very inefficient solution to the problem.

charter of incest: In reality, 15 people were involved in creating the 8 links, which in my opinion is a very inefficient solution to the problem. I think 16 people for 8 links is the most efficient solution! This way all the links can be developed in parallel, so the time required for generating the whole link-fest can be very short indeed.
by gf - Wed 11th Dec 2002, 1:31pm
charter of incest said: In fact, we only require 5 people for 8 new links, although if we assume complete heterosexuality, we need 6. A corollary is that, subject to the optimal gender split, 5 people only require 2 of the 3 forms of interaction (M-F, F-F, M-M) to complete 10 connections.Likewise, suitably arranged, just two forms of interaction could account for 105 connections between 15 people, or 120 between 16.

dw said: So...how much lesbianism was there? Typical dw question...Anyway, you should know - you were there! Or were you too busy to notice? All incest at this bop (that I saw) was of a male-female nature.
