Sorry for the delay in the new poll! It was caused by the combined forces of my crap programming and Matt Byrne.

In trying to sort it out I seem to have lost all the votes for the tetris poll. Ooops. I will see if I can reinstate them now.

In a moment of Esther-like experimentation, I voted for Dubya as both rower and cox. How does that fit in with the 1x idea...?

"and SI unit"

It seems so! :)
by mjb - Tue 27th Apr 2004, 6:15pm
They're SA units, aren't they ??
by Dumb blonde - Tue 27th Apr 2004, 8:50pm
Yes. Blame comprehensive school typing education for that

SA? No, they were Nazi storm troopers Matt.

Esther - I forgive you. You are from Nottingham, home of gun crime, after all... :)

I thought SS were the stormtroopers.
SA is the universally accepted "Système d'Aviron" standard for measuring things.
by dw229 - Tue 27th Apr 2004, 11:08pm
SA = Sturm Abteilung

Now that he's finished, perhaps time can be measured in MCPhDs?

Yes, 65 attoparsecs is a few millimetres over 2m tall, or a shade under 6'7"

Google Calculator agrees. Funnily enough, it doesn't appear to include the JMcIG as a unit of height.

I reckon 1 Smoot is a little under 59 attoparsecs

Sounds painful.
Also 1(Pikey kid) + 1(Handful of rocks) = 1(Bruised and bleeding rower who really wishes he could have got out and chased after them whilst brandishing his blade)

But Matt, even you admit you can't run... :)

I'm very dangerous over short distances ...
(Or should that be "dangerous over very short distances" ?)
by managed to avoid being hit by stones - Fri 30th Apr 2004, 10:55am
actually, we probably could have gotten out and given chase - all you have to do is cross the river at the lock - and there's a footpath that leads right to the corner
