1st men's VIII, Division 2, Men's 1st Div. Mays

4th
Time: 5:05.1
I do believe a quicker result in this heat ensures Miss Munro will shortly be taking a bath in the Cam. Mwahaha. Mwahahahaha. Mwahahahahahahaha. MwahahahahahahahahahahahahHAHAHAHAHAHAHAha.

Sub wishes to thank Jacob for the rhythm, Mycroft for the view and Din for the backsplash (Dan Newton)

1st men's VIII, Division 1, Men's 1st Div. Mays

10th overall

We weren't rate capped, but possibly length capped at about 12 inches... well it was VERY windy. (Tom C)

FaT Grads, Grad VIII, Men's 3rd Div. Mays

25th overall, 3rd of 5 3rd VIIIs, 7th of 8 in M3
Time: 5:28
Good race plus it turns out we didn't get beaten by the girls! (really can't think of one)
Not bad, a better rhythm than previously and held up quite well, just a few dodgy strokes now and then. Results are distorted as the wind dropped off during the day, but 17s behind the 1st VIII who went off at a similar time isn't bad. (waits to be informed they were rate-capped at 12) (Neil)

1st women's VIII, Women's 2nd Div. Mays

Winners of W2, second overall women's VIII, prize for best coxing
Time: 5:34.5
Wasn't bad at all; the practice starts were better than the real one but as usual our main strength was ...er... strength! Could have been a lot tidier, but on the other hand we were only about 10s slower than Jesus W1 (who have hundreds of Blues etc) so this is something to work on but not worry about. Will be interesting to see times for the other W1 crews; of those so far posted I think we are second (to Jesus).

Update: We got pots, and apparently also a goblet for Jenny's fantastic coxing! Second overall college W1 boat, and by a pretty small margin at that. (Erica)
And better still, Jenny won a best-line-around-Ditton goblet and bottle of champagne! (Mika)
And Caius W1 were... 3rd? (Pia)

1. Some good backsplash...

3. Drinks for all (and ...

3rd women's VIII, Women's Lower Div. Mays

3rd of 9 Women's Lower VIII's
Time: 6:20.4
Looking at this as a piece in our first ever outing as a crew, it was rather nice. Our start was a bit flustered and spacky into the wind- or at least seemed it in comparison to our beautiful practice on the row up- and we took a little while to find our rhythm, but we got there eventually, and had a good push for the finish.
.. and despite it all being a bit unpleasant due to lack of fitness on my part, it was quite good fun!

Many thanks to Erica and Amy for subbing :-) (jo)

4th women's VIII, Women's Lower Div. Mays

2nd 4th VIII and "most interesting start" and "maddest cox" prizes!
Time: 6:50
yey! we won...... the prize for the best start. And to be honest not much counts after that!

Baz won maddest coxing or something like that. tehehe! (Dami)
Well done, girls. Enjoy the 'champs'... Thanks to all subs.

To all those who weren't at the prize giving: The crew won 'most interesting start' and Baz, in a stunning creme ensemble, 'comedy coxing'.

They started then easied outside the Plough to produce party poppers... Ditton was taken in flight... Baz had both arms outstreched and was batting them vigorously... allegedly because he wanted to demonstrate strokes were to be taken in the raging headwind.

Impressive is the fact that despite the race emphasis having been decidedly in favour of the comic aspect of Champs Head, the crew was still faster than Tit Hall II and Vet School and only 7 seconds behind Newnham IV.

Congratulations! (Pia)
