A Plea by A Beggar - Thu 6th Jun 2002, 10:50am
Has anyone got lower boats zephyrs that I and possibly a couple of other members of the 4th VIII borrow for the bumps....?
I/we'd be much obliged!

Beggar, I have a lower boat zephyr which I hope not to be using (boats haven't been annouced yet you know...).
It's Medium so I don't know if it will fit you, but then again you can't really be a chooser then, can you....

Has anyone got a 2nd May or 1st Lent blazer that
a) they think will fit me
b) they can lend me for the Friday of Henley (which means getting it to me somehow before then - easy if you're in Cambridge and get this today).

I can't believe I've sunk this low... essentially, I've always resisted using the blazer to buft as I have a Cambridge tie which usually does. (Un)fortunately I'm required to wear the tie of my new club at the party I'm attending and so my bufting ability is compromised unless I get into blazer mode.

Or I could get a load of buttons off Prof Proctor and sew them on my blazer between now and next Friday.... but I'm not too crash hot with needle and thread...

And I am well aware that I could just wear gold socks. But let's not go there...

If you can make it to Buftie Central sometime between now and then, you can have my blazer (1st Lents trim still). I would use email but it's not behaving at the moment

this is now sorted...
Cheers Rich.
Cheers also to JPD for his help.

Of course, you're damn close to Henley cap eligibility (but a stickler for the rules wouldn't allow it - I certainly don't feel entitled to one).

About 0.1 sec away from it, we estimate...

That was the second time. The first time it could have been anything, and based on the gap to the crews behind us, was not very much.

So it was Rich's attempt which was the closer, then??

I seem to remember our attempt in 2000 being hampered by most of stroke side's riggers getting bent on Churchill's trailer - making the narrow margin of our elimination all the more disappointing. (Not to mention that our May Boat, despite going down 2, would clearly have qualified with ease...)

In 1999 there were problems with illness - not only Mike Goodson's terrible ailment (honest) but also "Dennis Remoundos" was looking unusually ginger and freckly for a Greek ;-)

See the Scum have qualified this year in a composite with Binson, plus one Filth composite (Wadham-St Anne's).
