This is taken slightly out of context (the passage is often slightly mis-used at weddings) - the bit before is about using gifts (e.g. the gift of teaching, as well as tongues (why ch.13 starts "if I speak in the tongues of angels...")); God is saying all gifts should be used "in love" for the common good, as a unit. He's saying that that would show.
I.e.: don't you know, it could be so beautiful
