1st men's VIII, Senior VIIIs

5th of 52 men's VIIIs, 4th college VIII
Time: 14:42.54
The 1st VIII had a good solid chunky row and pushed ourselves hard. (Rich)
This was a very inexperienced crew with several members having never even been 2nd VIII before. Fisher, had been selected for the 7-seat with a 7:25 ergo which rather summed up our lack of power.

However, things had picked up in the last week of training and we were going reasonably well. We set off hard and never let the rate fall below 34. We were not really covering enough to justify this but everyone worked bloody hard to keep it up and we were entirely satisfied with our efforts losing only to a stacked Emma crew that broke the record, a composite crew of triallists and strong Downing and Caius VIIIs. 2nd men's VIII, Lower VIIIs

31st of 52 men's VIIIs; 5th fastest end VIII
Time: 16:00.6
They weren't too happy with their row, and felt they could have been harder. (Rich)

Gents VIII, Lower VIIIs

39th of 52 men's VIIIs
Time: 16:41.38
Without doubt the best rowing photo I have - black & white, steaming around Chesterton in the Homerton Aylings eight, using Cambridge 99s blades and the whole crew looking remarkably rock solid. The time, of course, proved that we weren't, but it was a good show for a first outing... especially given that the crew had had two formal halls in the 36 hours preceding the race. (Simon)

3rd men's VIII, Lower VIIIs

44th of 52 men's VIIIs; 2nd fastest 3rd VIII
Time: 17:08.23
All I can say is, we were well hard and we beat the novices. And I remember my hands were freezing at the start so I couldn't feel my fingers, and I regained feeling at the Railway bridge, after which everything was much nicer. (Dubya)
