Putney Bridge to Kings Cross Tube Challenge (Tube Challenge), District-Victoria

Won
Time: 33:53
After debate about the route from Putney Bridge to Kings Cross the race was quickly on. With a 30 second wait at Earls Court, while Alex was changing trains and avoiding the wait, I felt I fell behind early. However a quick walking transit at Victoria combined with a 2 minute wait for the connection put me back on track. I arrived in time for the 22:06, which Alex would have failed to make, but had to wait for the 22:15. (Thomas)

Putney Bridge to Kings Cross Tube Challenge (Tube Challenge), District-Piccadilly (Change at Earls Court)

Lost
Time: 36:45
Having disembarked the District line train full of optimism, my dreams were quickly crushed upon arriving at the Piccadilly platform to find no trains up on the timetable. I waited patiently, managing not to swear at any more members of the TFL workforce. After about 3 minutes, the board said a train would be arriving in 2 minutes. The first few stations went by rapidly, but after Piccadilly Circus it got fairly crowded, which clearly slowed me down.

Overall a solid performance despite the conditions. Next time out I'm convinced there will be a better result. (Alex)

Fairbairn Junior Sculls (women's), Julia Robson

Final
1st
Having not been in Cambridge, to practice for the past week I wasn't expecting it to go well. I arrived to find the regatta running very late and that my opposition hadn't rowed this year except in the past week. When we eventually got started, I didn't have a great start and kept a very low rate as I hadn't really practiced high rates. Somehow, thanks to Pete's help, I avoided the banks, and I made it down the course keeping some reasonable technique. Don't remember ever doing a piece that long and pushing that hard in a single before but pleased it paid off. (Julia)
