2nd May VIII Song 1999

Cover our spoons (Blackburn/Fisher/Reilly)

Taking The Waterboys (get it?) classic "The Whole of the Moon" as inspiration, this epic was created:

Hunting Clare I

We picked up some cleavers
They buggered up our hands
We had subs in
When Mike got big glands
We stayed below Baitsbite lock for hours
While you just faffed in the reach
We are the second eight
We don't know the meaning of quiche
The meaning of quiche

We've motored round Ditton
With the wind on our backs
We've wound it too high
And still we don't spack
(Catching) too high, too far, too soon
Look how we cover our spoons!

Just past Ditton
We hit Maggie two
Lady Margaret were shit
And we just flew
We took the second boat headship
And Thursday first Clare
We aimed for the first
Division, and now we are there

INSTRUMENTAL BREAK

We dreamt about blades
And just flew
We motored we sped and we tried
We just knew
Catz held
But we never died
We are the seconds
But we're better than their firsts
Better than their firsts

We've motored round Ditton
With the wind on our backs
We've wound it too high
And still we don't spack
(Catching) too high, too far, too soon
Look how we cover our spoons!

Oh! Aggro swans and Formal Halls
Draw strokes then the wind
Coaches, Ducklings, Practice starts
But traffic on the grind
Lock runs, two k tests
Lifting heavy weights
Get the blade in, lock it on
Lever past the gate

Oh though we're a men's boat
Our cox is female
We came like a comet
Blazing our trail
(Catching) too high, too far, too soon
Look how we cover our spoons!
