Lust has been wrongly branded a vice and should be "reclaimed for humanity" as a life-affirming virtue, according to Cambridge University's Simon Blackburn.

I think this has got to kill any hopes of him getting taken off the incest chart...

As my namesake says, "anything that gives pleasure has a presumption in its favour. "The question is how we control it."

The incest chart gives pleasure... and needs to be controlled by removing boring old people, like me.

Simon seems to have written quite a few books actually. I'm particularly keen to read the one entitled "Being Good: A Short Introduction to Ethics". From where does his authority on this subject come?

Simon is also listed as the 21st "Most Powerful Person in Cambridge", and as far as I know he does all this while still holding down a job at the Bank of England. Amazing.

Not any more. He's now ARA Coaching and Development Officer for London and the South East (if memory serves). A job which, as Graham memorably summed up, involves driving the bus and taking the photos...

Think came out while I was in Cambridge. It was very odd - I was cycling past Waterstones at speed one day and saw out of the corner of my eye a giant poster saying:
"Simon Blackburn. Think."
Well, odd for me, obviously. Anyone else would have assumed it was an advert for a book...
