13th Jun '05 | May Bumps results | by mcp |
The May Bumps start on Wednesday! Below you will find the latest updates and gossip as the drama unfolds. If anyone posts any, that is! Also the full bumps charts, updated from mobiles on the towpath, are at the bottom of our main May Bumps page. First and Third have a total of 9 crews - 5 men's VIIIs and, for the first time, 4 women's. The 1st men are starting 7th in the first division behind Robinson, whilst the women are Head of the 2nd division and looking to launch themselves firmly into the 1st. The 2nd men also have a chance of great glory, starting directly behind Caius II at the top of the 2nd division chasing them for the 2nd boat Headship. Ra Ra First and Third!!

Men's division 4: M4 results altered - technical bump now awarded against kings 2 after they stopped needlessly when only 2 ft off bumping fat.
by Martin - Wed 15th Jun 2005, 4:07pm
The 3rd viii curse strikes again. maggie awarded technical bump on tit hall. We have a rerow before the next div against emma who had closed 2 a length
by Martin - Wed 15th Jun 2005, 5:29pm
Men's division 2: 2nd men overlap Caius at top finish. Gutted.
by Martin - Wed 15th Jun 2005, 5:53pm
Men's division 3: i entered the 3rd men\'s rerow result wrong. Sorry. They had a gutsy row over, surviving by 2 feet ahead of emma.
by Martin - Wed 15th Jun 2005, 6:14pm
Women's division 1: The women demolish darwin, bumping 30 yards before the motorway bridge.
by Martin - Wed 15th Jun 2005, 7:03pm
Men's division 1: Incredibly close race with queens & robinson. virtually simultaneous bumps ahead & behind. At last, some luck for the men.

Men's division 1: downing and maggie are now rerowing tomorrow after downing were impeded at first post (believe it or not...!)
by Lilie - Thu 16th Jun 2005, 8:17am
apparently now maggie and downing aren't re-rowing, as the re-row was offered to Downing, who, obviously, declined..

Just a quick test of a different phone...

Martin said: Men's division 5: More details of this division will be posted to the message board shortly. Neither Fitz 3 nor Sidney 3 were rowing in men's division 5. Fitz' boat was damaged on the way to the start, whilst Sidney have been identified as an illegal crew. The crews behind had easy bumps by rowing past empty stations. Most dangerous coxing prize goes to Corpus 3 for attempting to reclear after already clearing in a manoevre of unparalled incompetence.
by Martin - Thu 16th Jun 2005, 1:45pm
Women's division 4: Fitz lost their bow girl whilst racing and completed the course with 7!
by Martin - Thu 16th Jun 2005, 2:31pm
Men's division 4: For some reason Titan fails to turn on the first corner - the 4th men concede to Selwyn at little bridge
by Martin - Thu 16th Jun 2005, 3:16pm
Women's division 3: Sorry, darwin and corpus rowed over, first update was wrong.
by Martin - Thu 16th Jun 2005, 4:15pm
The grad viii enjoyed a convincing bump on Trinity Hall in First Post reach. Unfortunately Downing 3 were quickly demolished by pembroke 2 under the motorway bridge, so tomorrow looks tricky. The best race in the division was Christs chasing Homerton, in which there was overlap several times and which went right to the wire.
by Martin - Thu 16th Jun 2005, 4:45pm
Women's division 2: Queens have accumulated 90 quid in fines, incredible inability to comprehend the need to clear!
by Martin - Thu 16th Jun 2005, 5:28pm
Men's division 2: HEAD 2ND BOAT!!! Well done FaT
by Martin - Thu 16th Jun 2005, 6:19pm
Great disappointment for the first women. Despite throwing everything at it they closed to half a length when Selwyn ahead bumped Catz at the motorway bridge. Nothing else to chase :-( Catz tomorrow.

Although they were very indecisive about which way to go, I wouldn't describe it as unparalleled incompetence. Did they try to go somewhere else afterwards?

A really solid bump from the men's 5th VIII. No trouble at all from christ's behind who overbumped yesterday.
by Martin - Fri 17th Jun 2005, 1:45pm
Women's division 4: Fantastic racing... More details to follow.
by Martin - Fri 17th Jun 2005, 1:54pm
Women's third VIII bumped satisfyingly in the gut. Queens and Kings had a cracking race, with overlap at Ditton thrown away by steering for the bump but missing and running wide. Meanwhile Jesus were closing... closed to overlap on Kings for an overbump but caught a boat stopping crab on the verge of bumping. All three crews rowed over.
by Martin - Fri 17th Jun 2005, 2:37pm
Men's division 4: 6 boat rerow after m1 tonight. Christ\'s couldn\'t get past Caius/Churchill and everything below that stopped.
by Martin - Fri 17th Jun 2005, 2:45pm
The Arrows VIII actually rowed really well today, and though they did not make any ground on Selwyn, stayed well on station with their pursuers. They will be aiming to repeat this good performance later in the rerow.
by Martin - Fri 17th Jun 2005, 3:14pm
Women's division 3: Great disappointment for 2nd women. Held station 4 much of 1st post.Sadly a seat derailment saw the speed drop & bump at 1st post
by Martin - Fri 17th Jun 2005, 5:31pm
Men's division 2: Caius move away from Downing convincingly and bump Peterhouse half way down the reach.
by Martin - Fri 17th Jun 2005, 7:14pm
Men's division 4: Rerow results. The 4th men couldn\'t make the rerow. Technical bump.
