9th Nov '05 | 1,000,000m Rowing Record | by mcp |
Dan Darley and Rich Dewire have broken the Concept II world record for 1,000,000m on an indoor rowing machine! They finished at 10:32 a.m. this morning with a total time of 3 days 17 minutes - an incredible achievement and breaking the previous record by 4 hours 31 seconds. They have rowed alternately since 10:15 Sunday morning, swapping every 1 to 2 hours and catching whatever sleep and rest they could between turns. The record attempt has also helped to raise the profile of their entry in the Atlantic Rowing Race, beginning later this month, the 2003 winners of which were the previous 1,000,000m record holders. For a little more on the erg see the results page on this website, and to find out about their attempt to win the Atlantic Rowing Race - as well sponsor them and their nominated charities check out http://www.atlanticprince.com/. Well done, Rich and Dan! Happy recovering.

They've also earnt themselves a mention on the Slug - "Mad as a box of frogs" sounds about right. And I thought a 50k erg was bad!
