We decided to enter this race as the VIII that had done the most rowing in the pre-term training week (except for Sarah who we all missed). After one outing of high rate work we were feeling strangely confident, despite the lack of matching kit, and we had a strong, confident row to show for it. The start was controlled and Mark took an amazing line around Ditton which set us up well for the rest of the race.
The main panic came in around the railway bridge when the balance was off and Fiona screamed in pain (bad knee) and bow side had trouble connecting with the water, but pleasingly we picked it up again and pushed through to the finish.
No time as yet, but the beer and bbq are good ;)

A strong, confident row. Slightly unbalanced and panicky at the beginning, but brought together sharply coming out of Ditton with a solid row up the Reach.
Rating slightly higher than planned at around 32, but it was controlled and seemed quite comfortable.
A committed push to the finish with all sorts of noises from the boat in addition to the cox speakers!
P.S. Now that the result has come up, I wonder if we entered 6.30 or 6.34 as our predicted time, because if it was the former then that is a bloody good prediction, and we might even win that prize!
