1st men's VIII, IV+ & IV-, College VIIIs

Fastest overall crew
Time: 8:56
This was much more fun than I expected. I wasn't convinced that sticking the two fours together was really going to work and, in the later stages of the race in particular, our pushes lacked cohesion and failed spectacularly. That said, we were pretty nailed and seemed to move the boat quickly even if not very nicely. (BJ)
We have a lot of high rate work to go, unsurprisingly, but especially at the catch. Felt a lot better than I would have expected, especially given we rated a lot higher than I expected. Bloody dependable old Coker... (Dan)

Light IV, College IV-

Fastest college IV-
Time: 9:54
We can't let the result disguise the fact that this was an awful row and we have some serious work to do if we want to compete at Uni IVs and Fours Head. I don't think that having just rowed the VIII helped us find the appropriate 'subtle' mentality, but this has been an ingrained problem since we started in this line-up and we need to sort it out. The steering is also a problem, and I need to sort that out. (BJ)

2nd men's VIII, College VIIIs

5th fastest college VIII, fastest 2nd VIII
Time: 10:00
Ok the crew list looks odd now that I've tried to update it but it won't accept Lilie's name for the 2 seat.

Anyway, the row wasn't great, the rate dropped halfway (not helped by a rate meter deficient cox box) and the boat got heavy. It did sit a little better though as we came onto the reach. There was a good pickup towards the finish but we still have a lot of work to do considering we were over 1 minute slower than the 1st 8.

I guess the whole thing wasn't helped by the constant crew changing. Thanks to Lilie and Lorry for subbing in at short and very short notice. (S.C. Mertes)

1st men's IV, College IV+

2nd fastest college IV+
Time: 10:26
Bugger me, it was a tough week leading up to this one! As I sat marshalling I really had no idea how it would go: How fit are we (ahem, am I) really? Will we be able to concentrate for more than a two minute push? When the pain kicks in from racing the VIII two divisions before, will we have what it takes?

And, when we get right down to it, can I rate over my age?

Apart from a rather professional first minute, it was a messy, gutsy, unsat individual push to individual push affair. Overtaking Emma under the Railway Bridge was fun (wtf were they rating!?), although their (failed) push back highlighted how much work there is left to do.

Even without the times it was a fantastic mental boost for the next stage of training. That said, I would be remiss not to point out that on Downing's second attempt at the head piece - during the same division as us and tired as hell like us - we thrashed them. (Dan)

1st women's VIII, College VIIIs

3rd fastest college VIII
Time: 11:31
Lost to Christ's and Pembroke. We can do better.

On the bright side, it was a scratch crew and we have 5 months 'til Lents.

Harriet not Dami. (Dami)
