A timed headrace in two parts, length 2x2600m
Beginning of term race practice for many college crews.

1st men's VIII (1st division): 4th of 23 College VIIIs
2nd men's VIII (2nd division): 12th of 23 College VIIIs, 2nd fastest 2nd VIII
3rd men's VIII (3rd division): 22nd of 23 College men's VIIIs, but only one other 3rd VIII entered

Head of the Nene
Sat 6th February
A 5000m timed head race of Regional Importance
Most of the top college crews travel to race at Peterborough, for this invariably unpleasant but key race in preparation for the bumps.

1st men's VIII (Senior4 VIIIs): 8th overall, winners of S4, 1st college VIII
1st women's VIII (Novice VIIIs): 2nd of 6 entries in category
2nd men's VIII (Novice VIIIs): 36th overall, 2nd of 9 entries in category

Pembroke Regatta
Sat 13th February
A side-by-side knock out regatta on the reach, over 1100m
An event for college crews run in 3 divisions. For many crews, the last race practice before the bumps, and a popular event.

2nd men's VIII (2nd division): Lost to Caius II in the final

Bedford Head
Sun 14th February
A 2000m timed head race on the Great Ouse
An event attended by a minority of Cambridge Colleges.

1st men's VIII: 17th overall, 2nd Cambridge College

Lent Bumps Getting-on Race
Fri 19th February
The 2000m qualifying race for the Lent Bumps
The Lent Bumps are the focus of the term for college rowing, but only those boats finishing higher than 10th from the bottom of last year's races are automatically entered. All other crews must compete for the 10 places available.

3rd women's VIII: Failed to row-on; 9th fastest unsuccessful crew
5th men's VIII: Failed to row on; 7th fastest unsuccessful crew

Lent Bumps
Tue 23rd - Sat 27th February
The famous Cambridge University Bumps on the River Cam
The focus of the year so far. The Lent Bumps are smaller and less prestigious than the May Bumps, but nevertheless involve 69 men's and 52 women's crews.

1st men's VIII: 3rd in division 1
Down 2 - Bumped by Caius and LMBC
1st women's VIII: 10th in division 1
Stayed level - Bumped St. Catharine's, bumped by Churchill
2nd men's VIII: 7th in division 2
Down 3 - Bumped by St. Catharine's, King's and Caius II
2nd women's VIII: 10th in division 3
Down 3 - Bumped by Churchill II, Vets School and Pembroke II
3rd men's VIII: 10th in division 3
Down 1 - Bumped Girton II, bumped by Robinson II and Girton II
A more refined crew from a more refined generation: 7th in division 4
Up 4 - Bumped Churchill III, Trinity Hall III, Clare III and Chrst's III

2nd Trinity Challenge Sculls

A timed single sculling race over a course from Little Bridge to Peter's Posts, run by First and Third. This race was brought back into existence in 1999 after an extended period.

Cardinal's Regatta

"a regatta unlike any other..."
A fun post bumps regatta for mixed crews, with head starts for crews in fancy dress and widescale bribery of marshalls and race officials...!

A huge head race down-river on the Tideway (tidal river Thames) over the University Boat Race course
The largest annual VIIIs head race in the country, attracting most rowing clubs and many University and College crews.
