3rd men's novice VIII

Clare Novice Regatta (Men's Plate)

Plate 2nd round
Best Jesus NM3
Thanks to plenty of practice over the previous week, our start was strong, gaining an entire length on Jesus almost immediately. At this point, Jesus veered right and into the bank, so we understandably thought the race was essentially won. Unfortunately soon after, one of our bowsiders caught a very large crab, pushing us not only across Jesus' path but into the same bank they had hit. As we were pushing back off, Jesus were rapidly approaching, getting a lot of us very worried! Thankfully by the time we were back on the correct side of the river our advantage was around the same as it was before, and the race continued with us slowly pulling away further. An entertaining and hopefully fun first race for the crew!

Plate quarter finals
Lost to Pembroke NM3
Pembroke had an extremely strong start and gradually gained around half a length on us in the opening stage of the race. This was almost certainly the best we had rowed so far, but unfortunately Pembroke were on fire and we couldn't consistently gain on them. A controlled but very strong effort which should hopefully bode well for Fairbairns!

Novice Fairbairn Cup (1st division)

1st NM3; 17th overall
Time: 11:00
A strong row throughout with barely a crab. Truly magnificent, showing FaT a strong club with the fastest NM3 on the river. NM3 also beat most NM1s, and were only a second slower than NM2. They couldn't have made their LBC more proud!
