I would say that the skin-tight yellow tops are a privilege (duty?) of the 3rd VIII rather than being a Grad VIII thing. I think the Grads should surprise us with an entirely new really really nasty looking set of race kit.

In my time here they've only ever been good once (in 1997, when the horrible kit was worn). They came second that year to Engineering. They also raced in 1996 and 1998 and were mediocre, and never bothered again after that. We're too small a department to be consistently good at something like that - 1997 just happened to be a good year. Although having said that a surprisingly large number of boat club captains do find it a safe haven from doing serious work...

As a first year, am unsure of the history, but would be greatly privilleged if someoe would allow me to wear such a piece of kit, especially if skin tight!

I propose that the club's constitution be amended, to specifically prohibit this.

That is probably preferable in some people's eyes, but I think that would be unfair on the people who would ever want to see me wearing it.
