i really don't get why the cox didn't steer in from about 1:35

I think objects in the camera may be closer than they appear. If you listen to the whistles (and assume they're accurate) then they don't have overlap at 1:35.
It's also interesting how Selwyn veer off to the left of shot after the bridge - do they get a kick from the outfall, or was the cox just not concentrating...
This is great though; someone should send it to Sky Sports and try to convince them to cover the bumps.

If you look at the time it takes 7's puddles to hit the bows though, I would say it looks like they do have quite serious overlap. I've been watching in the JCR - no sound. Wouldn't surprise me if Kat (Astley) was fairly 'Iain-ish' with her whistles though.

The cox of the Christ's boat seems to be trying for the line through First Post Corner. There's really no reason to steer for the bump unless you need to force it (i.e. you're at the end of your burn or they're about to bump out). When you have overlap is no time to upset your balance, or risk missing their stern and taking a detour with the rudder full on.

Magnus, I agree with you totally. But it appears you're hardly one to talk...
