Three men's novice VIIIs are racing the Emma Sprints today. Results to follow...

Unfortunately we didn't have enough rowers to fill the third VIII, but to accomodate our one surplus rower and to save scratching we swapped it for a tub pair!

Trinity A (in Titan) were beaten in the first round by a Catz Women's IV, thanks to a boat stopping incident. More details to come from Dan.

Trinity B (in BP5) won their first round against Trinity Hall's novices. Thanks to Mr. Mike Simmonds bribing the start marshalls with donuts, we had a 1/2 length head start. In their first start ever the guys opened the lead to 1 1/2 lengths, and then pulled away to win by about 2 lengths. The rowing was long and strong, the rating was low (26 at a guess) but will come with time. In the second race we were unlucky to be drawn against the lycra-clad CCAT senior men's IV. The start marshalls were again pleased with our offer of donuts (but disgusted with the lack of fancy dress and beautiful women), and gave us a head start of about 1 1/2 lengths. CCAT moved through us after about 150m, at which point we panicked for a short time (roughly to the finish line). However, half way through the race the CCAT 2 man caught a boat stopping crab, to make - sorry - which made the race much more exciting. We regained the lead for at least 3 seconds before our own boat stopping incident, which allowed CCAT to cruise to an easy victory, who went on to win the event.

Trinity C, the VIII which never was, turned in to a tub pair stroked by Keith Noble-Nesbitt with Will T at bow and Amelia coxing. They did get a significant head start against the "Muppets" VIII, but this was quickly turned into a 3 length deficit. The opposition crabbed, allowing the trusty tub to close back to a length, but not enough to take the victory.
