Cambridge Autumn Head
Sat 1st October
2,600m head race upstream on the River Cam organised by Rob Roy Boat Club
Near the start of Michaelmas term this is an early barometer of a crew's speed for Fairbairns or more a test of the captain's organisation in getting a decent boat out so soon after term starts. Also, an opportunity to try out a IV in preparation for Uni IVs.

Queens' Novice Ergo Competition
Sun 6th November
A 500m team ergo competition for Novice & Senior VIIIs.
The first taste of competition for the novice squads, most of the college boat clubs enter their novice crews in to this fun event.

1st men's novice VIII (1st division): 2nd in div, 6th in qualifiers
1st women's novice VIII (1st division): 7th in div, 18th NW1 overall

Cambridge Winter Head
Sat 12th November
A timed head race over 2500m, from the Motorway bridge to the (no longer extant) Penny Ferry pub.
For senior crews this is the final race preparation for Fairbairns and can be a valuable form guide; for a few novice crews, a chance to try out racing before the upcoming Clare Novice Regatta.

1st men's novice VIII (Student Beginner VIIIs): 5th in Category (UEA, Corpus, Pembroke, Downing)

500m up the reach. Fancy dress and bribery are recommended!
A light-hearted knock-out regatta for novice VIIIs.

1st men's novice VIII (NM1 Division): Lost to Emma NM1 by 1.5 lengths in the 1st round and Beat Churchill NM1 by 4 lengths in the 2nd round
1st women's novice VIII (NW2 Division): Raced 4 rounds: Beat Corpus NW1 in the final

Clare Novice Regatta
Sat 26th November
A side-by-side knock out regatta for Cambridge College novice (beginner) VIIIs
With just a week before Novice Fairbairns, the "Clare Novices" offer all-important race practice and exciting side by side racing. Most college novice VIIIs enter.

1st men's novice VIII (Men's Cup): Raced 4 rounds: Beat Trinity Hall NM1 after their DQ in the final
1st women's novice VIII (Women's Cup): Raced 3 rounds: Lost to Trinity Hall NW1 by 2 lengths in the quarter finals
2nd men's novice VIII (Men's Plate): Raced 4 rounds: Lost to Caius NM2 by 1.5 lengths in the final
2nd women's novice VIII (Women's Plate): Beat Sidney Sussex NW2 after their DQ in the 1st round and Lost to Trinity Hall NW2 easily in the 2nd round
3rd men's novice VIII (Men's Plate): Beat Magdalene NM2 easily in the 1st round and Lost to Sidney Sussex NM2 by 2 lengths in the 2nd round

Novice Fairbairn Cup
Thu 1st December
A 2700m timed head race on the Cam for Cambridge College novice VIIIs.
The main focus for Michaelmas term for all novice crews at Cambridge University.

2nd men's novice VIII (1st division): 11th overall, 1st NM2
3rd men's novice VIII (1st division): 2nd NM3, (Beat LMBC, beaten by Fitz)
