Henley VIII, Temple Cup

Qualifying
6th fastest non-qualifier
Time: 6:30.7
I, and the rest of the crew, felt that this was a pretty decent effort. We beat Queen's and came pretty close to Downing/Catz, both of whom I'm pretty sure were faster on paper.

As for the race, we set off pretty strong, possibly rating a fraction too low, however we had a really strong rhythm, so I was loath to change it. Power and technique were maintained well, and we started our 500 metres to go move at about 600 metres out, tanked it to the grandstand, then held on till the line. We had a fraction of sterncheck, and I have no recollection of my lines at all, which would imply that I was wandering, so had we fixed those maybe we would have qualified. Pointless speculation really, for a college crew missing it's top four, our result was pretty respectable. Annoying to have been beaten by Hertford Oxford though. Also encouraging that 6 from this eight are available next year. (Swords)
Real shame we didn't qualify, the whole crew had a cracking race... virtually everyone collapsed in agony as we went over the line.

We'll make up those 2 seconds next year! (Blazing Queens' was fun)
