A major lesson in never giving up. Christ's were about 1/2 a length up under the railway bridge, then a boat stopping crab drew us level, and a minor crab left us able to squeak ahead a make it to the line. By God it was close though.
Epic race boys.

Well done lads! More of the same tomorrow!

After some gutsy rowing yesterday, I know you were all excited about today's race. A pretty decent start was dashed by some bad luck - tough break with seat malfunctions and huge crabs. But, you pulled yourself together for the second half of the race, brought the focus back into the boat, and finished strong and dedicated. I couldn't have asked for anything more - now get ready for Fairbairns!
A solid effort right throughout by everyone, despite a bit of bad luck in the first half. A very brave cox - racing on her third ever outing!
Novice Fairbairn Cup (2nd division)

This was an excellent performance from NM3 rowing in an exciting (!) new crew combination after losing a couple of guys up to NM2, and gaining some fresh blood from NM4!
Our race plan focussed on what we do well - rowing consistently, without panic, and staying concentrated on the job in hand. I was a little worried that we wouldn't be able to hold onto that concentration in a race situation, but I shouldn't have doubted the boys! A really storming start and first two minutes set us up very nicely and the rate was consistent at 28. Heads never went down and we maintained our timing with no hiccoughs all the way through the the railway bridge. We knew we had to dig deep for the last 500m of the course and with shouts of encouragement from the boat we would up to 30 just in time to die on the finish line.
This was a solid end to a good couple of week's rowing together. Looking forward to seeing you all in the Senior squad come Lents!
