Race abandoned due to HoRRific weather conditions after the first 45 crews
I was gonna write GASH but 328 isn't as good as that. We'd best go up. (Tom C)
Thanks to the Dans for rowing, Hayley from Maggie for coxing, Simon for taking us out on the Tideway the day before the (cancelled) race, Andrew for coming down to London to row the boat back for a vomiting Phil (obviously seasick in anticipation of the weather), Westminster School II for a cheeky bit of sparring, and all the crews who sank for providing us with entertainment.
Conditions

A blustery wind from the North East made conditions unrowable between Barnes Bridge and Chiswick Steps, with white horses and waves particularly noticeable on the racing line. The race was postponed by nearly 30 minutes, and then allowed to begin. Nearly all of the first division was allowed to start, but it became apparent that about a quarter of the crews were not making it through the stretch of rough water, and racing was cancelled.
Steph Richards coxed Leander III, who bravely battled on with stern pair's riggers under water as far as the calm water at Harrods, but then finally stopped.
Other comments are on this poll thread.

^ top
