Conditions
A blustery wind from the North East made conditions unrowable between Barnes Bridge and Chiswick Steps, with white horses and waves particularly noticeable on the racing line. The race was postponed by nearly 30 minutes, and then allowed to begin. Nearly all of the first division was allowed to start, but it became apparent that about a quarter of the crews were not making it through the stretch of rough water, and racing was cancelled.
Steph Richards coxed Leander III, who bravely battled on with stern pair's riggers under water as far as the calm water at Harrods, but then finally stopped.
