Mich Term 2005

3rd women's novice VIII

Cambridge Winter Head (Student Beginner VIIIs)

11th out of 14 women student beginner VIIIs
Time: 15:06
Considering these girls aren't particularly experienced and there were four coxes in the boat in total (hehe), this was a very good row.

Despite having a blade clash with an imperial crew (grr!), they kept moving together fairly well, responded to the calls for pushes, and didn't give up at all.

Very impressed, couple more outings, then bring on Clare Novices! (Dami)
This was a very good race, with everyone committed and together. A really nice push down the Reach, despite the nasty Imperial crew. So impressed by this performance!

Hope you had fun! (Clair)

Clare Novice Regatta (Plate)

2nd round
Lost to Jesus C
This had the makings of an excellent race. The crews were neck and neck off the start, and kept it there for nearly half the reach. And then....

crab no 1 - recovered quickly no ground lost.

crab no 2 - recovered not so quick, couple of feet lost.

crab no 3 - boatstopper.

The fact that Jesus didn't pull away from them after they got back to all VIII shows how evenly matched these crews were.

Never mind girls, stuff happens. Top tip - keep calm and focused for the next race. (Dami)

Novice Fairbairn Cup (1st division)

46th Novice Women's Crew, 6th of 9 3rd VIIIs
Time: 15:37
The weather was against us this afternoon. The wind picked up which made starting hard as the boat was constantly being pushed into the bank. But this did not dampen anyone's spirits and all VIII put in a gutsy row which paid off in a good time which you should all be proud of. Sadly beyond the finish was crowded which made spinning and returning stressful - sorry for shouting! Hope you all enjoyed your time as novices. (Harriet)
This was a gutsy row, despite difficulties caused by strong wind. An unfortunate gust blew us off course allowing Peterhouse to sneak past, but the girls pulled out the stops and gained some ground back from a standing start.

I have loved lbc-ing this term with you all. I look forward to seeing you all continue the progress you have made next term when you become valued members of the senior squad. (Clair)
