FaT/BPBC composite, Senior4 IV+

Heats
lost to Vesta and Reading B (not easily)
A rather powerful start took us to about half a length up initially (on the inside), but then our inferior fitness started to show itself and Vesta and Reading slowly moved past us to beat us comfortably. But despite coming 3rd out of 3, we made it through to the rep ... (Matt)
Repêchage
lost to Kingston Uni (easily)
In the rep, we were facing Kingston Uni in a 2-boat race. We started on the outside this time and they slowly pulled away to win easily. But then they'd probably been training or something. (Matt)

Semi finals
lost to Granta (3/4 l); beat Thames (lots)
The start saw us lose about 1/2 length to Granta, but we dropped Thames pretty quickly. The race was fairly uncomfortable - we were rowing at what I would call a sluggish 38. We drew back level with Granta with about 300m to go, but then hit some nasty wash from a cruiser and completely fell apart from there to the finish. (JPD)
Can't really let mention of this race go past without drawing attention to the moments prior to boating. We had arranged for a very last minute sub on the Friday night when our planned cox had pulled out; however, we didn't realise quite how last minute the sub would be. Sarah had been delayed with outings downstream at Mortlake and arrived at the regatta as we were putting the boat on the water. Which we were doing under the direction of our sub-sub cox, Mr G Fisher.
Granta won their final easily: we came closer to them than anyone else in S3. So it was especially disappoinintng (although no fault of Sarah, who we always knew was going to be late) that we didn't have the chance to go for a bit more of a practice paddle. (Simon)

Semi finals
lost to Orion and Kingston (3l and 5l)
We lost. In the third race of the day, with Dewire in for Fisher,G, we spacked our way to a comprehensive defeat. So we made our way over to the regatta enclosure and cheered on the S2 FaTTBC/BPBC composite and some of the Granta crews that were lurking around. (Matt)

Miscellaneous men's IVs, Senior2 IV+

Final
beat Staines (1 1/2 l)
This was a more comfortable row than our senior 3 effort, as we settled onto a lower rating (32-34) with something which might optimistically be called "rhythm". We moved up a length by the end of the corner (we were on the inside station), and then held a little clear water until the finish. (JPD)
Fairly ugly rowing in less than perfect conditions, but enough to get the pots. (Simon)
