Clare Novice Regatta (Cup)

1st round
Lost to Churchill (3 feet)
A superb first stroke rapidly led to a disastrous second when Evans crabbed. Graham Fisher was quoted afterwards as saying something along the lines of "I watched stern four take the first stroke, then looked at bow four for a bit and they seemed to be OK. Then I looked back at stern four and realised they were in anti-phase". This they were, for bow four had carried on with the start anyway, and stern four joined in at the wrong time. We lost just over a length on Churchill, but gained it back steadily over the unsportingly short course to lose by 3 feet. (Rose the Twat)
