This boat was named by Matthew Pinsent and the club's president, Denys Lawrence, on the college Backs by the Wren Library, at the same time as its sister vessel, Denys Lawrence. It carried the men's 1st VIII to the Head of the Lent Bumps in 1998 - the last year it was used regularly as the 1st boat, being superceded by a similar vessel which arrived in time for the Fairbairns in that year.
