2010-2011 Manifestos

Richard Sworder - Women's Lower Boats Captain

* Significant portions of this manifesto are being written by Julia because Swords is beyond keen and has 3 outings today. We think that says everything you need to know. This document is written with his views in mind.*

I am a 3rd year engineer who noviced as a rower last year, participated in dev squad for the lightweights over the summer, suffered a catastrophic shoulder injury, but against all the odds, came back to the boat club to cox W1 to a stunning Fairbairns victory in Michaelmas. I am currently coxing W1 in Mays, and rowing with M5.

My keenness and experience both with First and Third and the Lightweights will make me an effective and useful LBC. I coached novices this year and am looking forward to carrying on. My knowledge of both coxing and rowing will be very helpful in the early stages of Michaelmas term when novices are trying to decide between these two roles.

I am always supremely confident in what I say, and I feel this will be invaluable when convincing drunk freshers that they do indeed want to row. First and Third has become a huge part of my life, and I am willing and able to sign it over to the club.

I have a good relationship with all of the bufties, so convincing them to coach shouldn’t be a problem. I delegate all organizational tasks effectively by telling Julia to do it. I believe in giving our novices the best shot possible at winning Fairbairns, Clare Novices, and everything else that comes their way, because frankly, First and Third should be the best at everything.
