Club Committee

2005-2006 Manifestos

Dan Jane - Secretary

I hope to work with the Captain and Committee to guarantee the success of the boat club in all respects and build on the fantastic work of the FaT Secretaries of recent years. I have been a club member for close to five years since novicing in my first term in Cambridge, and have thoroughly enjoyed and benefited from my membership. After suffering a year off in 2004 to study maths I am committed to helping the club on and off the water and to promoting the benefits of rowing.

I have an excellent relationship with many of the previous Secretaries who assure me I can approach them for advice. I have a good grasp of the duties I will be expected to perform, and I feel I will cope admirably with the many situations and challenges that arise.

My confidence in my abilities is from previous experiences on committees; as LBC for FaT in 2001-2, Secretary and then President for CULSC, and Security Officer for Trinity May Ball 2004. I am enthusiastic in meetings, good with minutes and work well in a team.

I will seek to submit race entries as early as possible, subject to receiving entry details from the appropriate captains. I will learn to use the double entry accounting system and generally make good use of my Excel skills from the City. Hopefully there will be no accidents next year but in the unlikely event of one occuring I will manage our logbook accordingly.

If required, I will arrange a club dinner at the end of each term. I will look to keep the costs as low as possible for members and use the most appropriate venues. Should I not be required to organise dinners I will provide help and support and generally continue the theme of being a useful member of the committee.
