What should the club have as its 3 letter ARA code?
All clubs soon have to have a 3 letter ARA code for their boats, which is used at eg. the Nat. Champs. and on the Tideway. Currently ours is FTT, but we have an option to change it. What should we have?
FTT  7%
FTR (easy to add to existing TR numbers)  0%
CTR (Cambridge, Trinity - similar)  2%
FAT  81%
CAT  0%
BUN  0%
RTT  10%
XXX  0%
Total: 42 members' votes

Was just about to post that this was going to be needed in addition to the TRxx which was required by the Proctors.

However, I've just noticed that the Proctors only require a T or a U, and it's the CUCBC who require the TR (see page 61).

With this in mind, and considering that CUCBC will accept 3 letter codes, could we not just ask both CUCBC and the ARA to use whatever we choose below? As otherwise Black Prince would have (for example) TR1 FTT01 which is not very trendy. Unless we go for one of the options which adds one letter to the front of the TR, which also makes retrofitting very easy.

Also, as the ARA allows numbers within the 3-letter club codes, can we add "13T" to the list above?

Interesting to note that we at Trinity get 2 options for our letter, wheras everyone else gets only one code.

Also amused to see "RTT" (Real Third Trinity ??)getting so many votes.

It only has 2 votes to date, Matt.

That's still one more than you'd expect.

Surely we are mssing a trick here. If we go for "1&3" or failing that "13T", we will go to the top of every list. "FAT" is probably the best of the rest but we ought to aim higher!

Inspired.

Almost as inspired as the decision taken by BPBC to change from BLP to RTT

WTF?

1&3 would be good actually, if we're allowed stuff like ampersands.

So our boats end up as "1&31", "1&312", etc.?

It probably wouldn't work out too well.

How about "TLA"

No, they'd still need 6 characters

"1&3001", "1&3012" etc.

or with the current leader in the poll
"FAT001", "FAT012" etc.

Now I think about it, what is the logic behind FTR? This must be "First Trinity" presumably. Since I would be a member of Third Trinity were it still going, I must object to the exclusion of half of our history from our name!

If we went for "13T", this wouldn't be so silly:
"13T 001", "13T 002", etc.

It's easy to add to TR.

But that's not enough on its own, otherwise XTR would do. Surely we need an appropriate acronym, and I don't want 3rd Trinity to disappear!

TTR?

stop all the faffing - FAT is clearly the best option.

Perhaps "FAF", given how we display excellence in that field of endeavour with such fantastic consistency?
