Beat Newnham NW2 (3 Lengths)
“They were just such pleasing races.” - anon cox.

“ We didn’t have a draw sequence, we had ‘STROKESIDE PRESSURE, STROKESIDE PRESSURE, STROKESIDE PRESSURE’.” - also anon cox.
(Thomas Frith)
It has been said that 5&6 are the powerhouse of the boat. Those who said that have clearly not met Phoebe in bow. After I had so lovingly set us up straight (a hard challenge for me), on the first draw we skewed straight into the bank, and our carefully curated start sequence turned into a series of "STROKESIDE PRESSURE"s. However, by ~10 strokes in we were once more in the right position and at rate, although half a length behind Newnham. It is a testament to the girls' confidence in themselves that the rowing did not become panicked/rushed/any worse, and within 200m we were back ahead. The rest of the race was without much drama, as we started winding down under the railway bridge. (Lily Kearney)
Plate quarter finals
Beat Maggie NW3 (Easily)
We knew we had won this race by the Railway Bridge. So did Maggie. Unfortunately for them, this was on the row down.

We got to the start feeling very refreshed, as we had spent half of the row up easied to avoid bumping our opponents-to-be in front.

The race itself was very successful. We were, this time, straight after the draws, and wound it up to 33. By this time, there was clear water behind us, so we started to bring the rate back down. Never again do I think I will call 6 "down 2"s during a race.
