Michell Cup
The Michell Cup, first presented in 1923 in memory of Dr. R. W. Michell, is awarded by CUCBC to the Boat Club giving the best performance on the river during the course of the academic year.

Current Rules
Any club which enters three or more boats into both Lent and May Bumps is eligible to compete for the cup.
Currently points are awarded for the following things
- Bumps:
- 12 points for a bump
- 12 points for rowing over head of the river
- 6 points for the top 2nd and 3rd eights rowing over
- -12 points for being bumped
- The number of points earned during bumps is divided by the number of boats entered by a club
- Points are awarded to the winner of all of the following if they have at least four entries in a given category:
- 6 - Light Fours
- 8 - 1st Division Coxed Fours
- 4 - 2nd Division Coxed Fours
- 8 - Clare Novice Regatta - Cup
- 4 - Clare Novice Regatta - Plate
- 8 - The Fairbairn Cup - 1st Division
- 4 - The Fairbairn Cup - 2nd Division
- 6 - The Fairbairn IVs
- 8 - Magdalene Silver Pairs
- 8 - Lowe Double Sculls
- 8 - Colquhoun Sculls
- 8 - Delafield Championship Sculls
- 4 - Foster-Fairbairn Pairs
- 4 - Fairbairn Junior Sculls
Tie Break Rules
In the event of a tie the following rules are applied in order:
- The club which has the larger number of people rowing or coxing in the University Trial Eights Races
- The club which has more total boats on across Lent and May Bumps
- The club whose highest placed first boat in May Bumps is higher
Rules 2019-20 to 2024-25
The changes to the non-bumps races are detailed below:
- 12 points are awarded to the winner of all of the following:
- Light Fours
- 1st Division Coxed Fours
- Magdalene Silver Pairs
- Lowe Double Sculls
- Colquhoun Sculls
- Delafield Championship Sculls
- The Fairbairn Cup (1st Division)
- Clare Novice Regatta (Cup only)
- 12 points are awarded to the winner of any of the following if the event has four or more entries:
- Foster-Fairbairn Pairs
- Fairbairn Junior Sculls
- Peter Brandt Sculls
- Maiden Sculls
Older Rules
The years listed below are the first year where the given rule was disregarded.
Prior to (excluding) the 2019-20 year there were the following changes:
- Men's third eight headship only (not womens) awarded points
- Events awarded points irrespective of the number of entries
- Bushe-Fox Freshman Sculls existed and it awarded its winner 12 points
Prior to (excluding) either 2006-7 or 2007-8 there were the following changes:
- The Maiden Sculls awarded only 6 points and was open to both men and women
- The Peter Brandt Sculls did not exist
Prior to (excluding) either 2003-4 or 2004-5 there were the following changes:
- The Maiden Sculls did not exist
