This was such a nice row - the girls were looking strong and together, definitely one of the prettiest crews on the river (in every sense!). Nice coxing too :)

Hope you had fun!

This was a very good race, with everyone committed and together. A really nice push down the Reach, despite the nasty Imperial crew. So impressed by this performance!

Hope you had fun!

Unfortunately beaten by a more... beefy Jesus crew (to put it nicely), who had a very unusual 'half-slide' technique - as Bryn says, he's certainly never seen Clare Novices rowed like that before. It was a really good race, and the girls put in a strong performance considering they were up against a fresh crew. There was a nice push before the railway bridge which gained ground.

Well rowed girls!

The girls proved that they can put down some very good pressure when they want to. A bit more racing experience will give them the confidence to row comfortably at higher rating, experience which they will no doubt get as seniors next term :)

The conditions were icky, with gusts of wind. Nevertheless the girls looked technically nice and were consistently in time throughout the race.

I hope you have all enjoyed your novice term - I have certainly loved lbc-ing with you all. I am looking forward to seeing you become valued members of the senior squad.

This was a gutsy row, despite difficulties caused by strong wind. An unfortunate gust blew us off course allowing Peterhouse to sneak past, but the girls pulled out the stops and gained some ground back from a standing start.

I have loved lbc-ing this term with you all. I look forward to seeing you all continue the progress you have made next term when you become valued members of the senior squad.

YAY!! Got on, and well deserved too. Today was a good race, and all the crew put in a committed performance which reflected how much we wanted it... more to be seen next week, watch this space! :)

Special thanks to Amelia for bank-partying, to Jane for being on the Reach when we were tired, and to Will for carrying Harriet's broken blade home after rowing himself. And to Charlie for coaching. And all my fellow crew, oh i love you all!

Bumped... and sank Downing II! All of us gave every last bit for this last race, and it was worth it. As we closed on Downing, their bank party's hooting for their attack on Clare Hall seemed ever louder, and the crew worked hard together to get them before they forced Clare Hall to spoon. It was true "cannon-rowing" that gave us the bump :)

My favourite part? That their stern 4 waited till they were neck deep in water before abandoning ship!

for "some of the less obedient crew members..." in the above report, read "the crew member in the three-seat began to panic that we might have been thwarted in our bump, and so caused a BIG fuss..."

thank you girls for having me in your crew, i feel very honoured to row with you all. i had fun, but i very much hope ulrike is better soon :) !

Good first outing for the 2nd VIII tops. Not the best row (sorry Jenny), but job done. Bring on Catz.
