And HWR clashes with Mays.

dearie me what's the university thinking scheduling its terms so thoughtlessly! very curious to see what magdalene will do considering their head coach's claims last year that off cam races were their priority...specially in mays vs women's henley

there was a suggestion that W1 was going to be late so that the keenies could do the WeHORR and then leg it back for bumps. phew.

I believe that we're swapping the men's and women's divisions on Saturday, which will give those in W1 racing the WEHoRR in the morning (it starts at 10:30) a better chance to be back in time (although I reckon it will still be close).

CUCBC. Encouraging overtraining since 2005!
by certainly not training that day (as usual) - Thu 13th Jan 2005, 3:12pm

Perhaps CUCBC could lay on some buses between London and Cambridge for the affected crews... with ergs on board, of course, to facilitate even more training?

Ergs on board would surely lead to silly erg games, not training!
by 100m tests are the only acceptable ergs - Mon 17th Jan 2005, 10:37am

You mean.. silly erg games *aren't* considered a form of training??

I see Magdalene have entered their first and second women's eights into the W8s head (which is on the same day as the Saturday of Lents). This presents the following timings:

Magdalene Women's 2nd eight:
8s head start position 245, so approx start time 11:50am. Assuming they get on in the Lents, they'll also be racing in Cambridge at 2pm.

Magdalene Women's 1st eight:
8s head start position 105, so approx start time 11:05am. Assuming they haven't overbumped into division 1 in the Lents, they'll also be racing in Cambridge at 3:20pm. Indeed, they may even be sandwich boat that day which could give them an additional race at 4:40pm.

Hmmm.

i think they are more bothered about wehorr than bumps going by our training and targets last year and the year before so if they miss bumps i don't think it'll be an issue unless they discover on friday that they are on for blades.

which, we now know, they won't. And their second women didn't get on so don't need to rush back. I was talking to one of their coaches who said that they had the logistics sorted so will be interesting to see if they make it on Saturday.
