Calling mathmo students by Dan - Fri 4th Feb 2005, 2:49pm
Erm, I used to be a mathmo student but sadly am no longer either a student, or any good at maths.
Can any of you give me an equation to link watts with 500m split on an erg (I guess put the split in seconds makes it easier). The concept site has data but no formula...

I make the closest match to that data to be roughly:
power = 352000000 / (split ^ 3.0013)
with the split in seconds

Am I looking at a different page here? Don't they already give you a formula?

"Power (Watts) = 2.8/(pace)3
where pace is given as: Pace = time (seconds)/distance (metres)"

So if you want to translate that into split time:

power = 350000000 / (split ^ 3)

Oh, and Martin - are you embarrassed to call yourself a chemical engineer these days...?

Mike, why would I be embarrassed? Thing is, 'chemical' is such a misleading title. It's actually easier to say that I did cookery.

Just think, you could have done mechanical engineering...

Working for McVitie's, developing the perfect biscuit? Is that Martin in disguise?
