Googlism in reverse. Enter a question such as "Who is boat club captain?" and get a list of possible answers. Sixth on the list is, impressively enough, Andrew Fisher. But not before three Boar's Head members. And check out who follows Andrew on the list...

Oddly enough, it doesn't respond quite so well to the seemingly easy question "Who is Queen of England?". GooglePeople is somewhat confident that the oddly named Anne Boleyn Elizabeth is our Queen, with William Shakespeare (5th), Tobias Hume (8th) and and Robert Johnson (9th) all coming in ahead of Elizabeth II in 11th position. Honourable mentions go to Glenda Jackson (19th) and Cate Blanchett (21st) for at least having portrayed a Queen on film...

But Dan Walker comes in at ninth on the list - you might have more chance with him...

Have you ever seen them in the same room together?

Who is Mike's next shag?

Rather worryingly, some guy called Mike Wade comes top. Also in there is James Bond (fictional), Marilyn Monroe (dead) and Pamela Anderson (plastic). Add in both Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, and it's quite a selection...

Tom Rose

Neil Talbott
John Earl

Donald Rumsfeld.

Unfortunately, the answer to the question

'Who will pull at the Trinity boat club dinner ?'

seems to be entirely made up by people from Downing

who is the lard king
by RTT - Tue 26th Nov 2002, 5:53pm
Sadly, the answer to "Who will be binned next by culrc" is Tom Rose (or at least, he's the first on the list that is actually trialling, behind Iain Law, John Earl, Peter Brandt and Anna McCreadie).

There's also a surprise winner in the boat race next year; "Who will win the boatrace next year" yields.....Trinity Hall.
by mjb - Tue 26th Nov 2002, 5:59pm
Who will be binned next by CUWBC ?
yields the following answers

Simon Case
Miss Aiken
Martin Peck
Jonathan Glass

interesting ...

Who is the best rower in cambridge?

James Cracknell
Mel Harbour
Steve Redgrave
Terry O'neill
Jim Fields

Keith Noble-Nesbitt & Dan walker manage to squeeze in near the bottom of the list
by RTT - Wed 27th Nov 2002, 11:22am
Ask it "who will cox the cambridge blue boat" and it says:

Dan Snow
.
.
Goldie Crew

Either way, I suspect they'd lose!

Who will finish Head of the May Bumps?

In fifth place - Matthew Arnold. Who still remembers him?
In sixth place - Martin Peck. Who could forget him?

The only two colleges to appear on the list are Trinity Hall and, laughably, Sidney Sussex.

Probably Claire Painter.
He was last BC captain to be quoted in the Times, about when they took the desicion to make the Lents five days..... I remember the shock when he annouced it to my crew.
Gosh, I am sounding old.
Interestingly enough, "Who is in the Fairburn Eight" yields no, even ex-, 1st and 3rd people in it's 125 or so results.
Sounds about par for the course given our illness/injury rate. ;)
(P.S. I am not, nor have ever been captain)

Of course, you could try Who is in the Fairbairn viii

Chris Harding is the first FaT person in the list there, followed by Martin Peck and, further down, Stephen Robson. I am mentioned just after Michael Parker ...

Unfortunately, GooglePeople is like me, a pedant. When asked "Who is in the Fairbairn Eight", we see
Trinity Hall in first
Trinity Nearly in fifteenth

(What is this "Trinity Nearly"? Is it the new name for St John's?)

Who is watching at Grassy Corner?
Martin Peck

Meanwhile, Pembroke Oxford are looking good to be head of Torpids

You'd have thought he'd have learnt how to spell FairbAIrn by now, having been here so long :-)
Then again, so many people in Cambridge also make the same mistake...
by Sam - Wed 27th Nov 2002, 11:18pm
who is going to crash on grassy corner?

That would be Trinity Hall, with a confidence of 7 stars!
by 25 in the shade - Thu 28th Nov 2002, 12:37pm
who is the fastest man on earth?

(3rd place) Marion Jones - this might annoy Dwaine Chamber, placed 4th
by Lance Snodgrass - Thu 28th Nov 2002, 10:15pm
Well just gave it a go with a test question, "who is the fittest man in Trinity?" naturally expecting my name in response but just got junk back. Asking for the fittest woman however was more interesting with the following results:
1. Wilson Casey (also scoring highly on fit men)
2. Jesus Christ (rarely thought of as a contender)
3. Niccolo Machiavelli (my history classes must have evaded the named's gender)

Further down is Michael Angelo (sic)... hmm no FaT lasses listed sadly.

My name here, incidently, is the 2nd choice answer to "who is Michael Simmonds?".
by rjn - Fri 29th Nov 2002, 12:08am
'Who are the Trinity Women?'
Answer: Adrian Cassidy
