4 FaT members were in action today in the women's and lightweights' boat races. Alas, all four finished on the losing side as Oxford again proved stronger in all five races. All the races with the exception of the Women's Blue Boat (the only one without FaT representation) were very close but in truth no Cambridge crew looked like winning.

I know that should read "Filth". Who cares if I can't spell their name anyway.

Ingers is being his usual pessismistic self. Clearly the women's blue boat were never going to win, but the other four races (ie. those with FaT presence!) were all pretty close. Both lightweights men's crews got within half a length of their opposition, and Blondie were even closer until the dying seconds. The lightweight women were dropped early on but stayed in touch right to the finish. I think the official verdicts were:

Granta lost by a canvas
Blondie lost by 1/2 length
CUW lightweights lost by 3/4 length
CUW lost by miles
CULRC lost by 1/3 length

OK I can't spell either.

pessimistic

OK maybe I was being slightly pessimistic but what I meant by the comment was that it didn't ever look like any crew were _likely_ to win. Every crew was at least half a length or so down as they went through the middle of the course and although both men's lightweight crews made impressive pushes towards the finish, I believe that no Cambridge crew were ever in front other than the mens lightweights for a few strokes off the start. That rather depressing fact is what I was getting at.

What is interesting is that the slowest crew of the day was the women's blue boat who recorded a slower time than Osiris, Blondie and both women's lightweight crews who put in very fast times.

Who were the FaT people in the men's crews?

Eton boy in the lightweight blue boat and graham Sills in Granta
