Fastest college VIIITime: 9:19We knew we had an uphill battle if we wanted to beat Mint. Steady progress through the week culminated in all-in-all a not too shabby row. Started strong with a slightly weaker 2nd half, just about did enough to put ourselves at the top.
Perhaps the first time Bomber's 'matched' VIIIs have actually been somewhat matched
(Sam Pearson)After an interesting training week with newly reshuffled and not at all matched matched VIIIs, we had made a great amount of progress.
We lost in a Bridge to Red Grind piece midweek by a considerable margin so we knew we were on the back foot going into today.
We had a strong first km until Ditton corner then started to lose it however we persevered and managed to cinch the win by three seconds in the end.
(Andrew Farquharson)Point has been proven.
Future crews must now only tingle. Nothing else is acceptable.
(Daniel Edwards-Medic)Trinity Trial Eights is reborn.

Joint second college VIIITime: 9:22Seems you were minting sterling silver ehhh?
I should tell you about this new element that's been discovered recently, it's called gold...
(Daniel Edwards-Medic)There once was a FaT crew named Mint,
Who put in a training week stint;
While round Ditton they flew
In the middle they blew
And to Tingle they lost by a hint.

2nd women's college VIIITime: 10:35Guess I'm a strokesider now!
Great race, excellent effort and mentality. No die in the middle, just consistent effort to give the boat some life. We probably rated a bit high from the excitement of catching 99s W1, cut the finish a bit short and weren't as together as we could be. Still, we'd only had two outings prior to this as a full crew so there's much more to come.
We started pretty close to 99s and gained on them off the start, and had to just keep nipping away at their heels to cross the line about half a length back. Fantastic fight, I always enjoy a chase.

A case of might-have-beens for
some sweepy-has-beens still bursting with beans. Who would have thought
this was a scratch crew?
Ticking over nicely in the low 30s ahead of a Downing crew stuffed
with ex-Olympians, we were just winding up for a blistering finish when
the river suddenly narrowed leaving only space for bowside blades and a
houseboat. 'Hold it hard' came the call, setting off half a dozen
pacemakers. After a quick chat with the houseboat owner and a tour of
its on-board facilities, we were soon away again, finishing off rate 48
at sub 1:20s, or so I recollect.

In Pike,
Kept it at thirty
Even though it hurty.
And he raced with a smile,
This thin FaT Deben scullophile
(Mike)
3rd women's IVTime: 13:46After a perfectly executed choreography of manoeuvres at marshalling (got to admire Joel’s patience…) we set off with a good start. On our way, around first post corner, we encountered a quad and went past it. A bit later, a single was lurking behind us, with very mixed views about its position on the river. We were polite and conceded the line and it eventually went by… I vaguely remember another boat somewhere before the finish coming by… but hazily… Really solid effort, keeping our split and rate consistent throughout the race. Considering we only had one outing as a crew before today, this was a pretty good race!
