Up 3 - Bumped Hughes Hall, Robinson and Lady Margaret II
Wednesday
Rowed over Head
This was a day and a half. After Isaac's illness taking him out for the previous two days and Sam spent the morning throwing up (after eating a banana too quickly) we had a somewhat shaky crew together.

Our race was not good, Churchill gained a little off the start but then sat a length away from us. (From this we discovered Emile cannot estimate distances at all and just parroted back 1 length every time George asked.)

We eventually crossed top finish and prepared to row back for our next race.

Apparently we were all a little worried about Churchill. Like worried sick (just for, you know, half the crew...)

However, we got the job done - and rowed over ahead of Chu. Congrats to them must be made - they made some really incredible pushes and made us work for it every stroke of the way. We look forward to seeing them break into div 1 later in the week - they deserve it.

Csongi apparently wants to learn swimming though, he came perilously close to being thrown into the water when he said "I think we had another gear" just after crossing the line. Only thing that saved him was that I didn't...

Wednesday
Bumped Hughes Hall as sandwich boat
YES, after four failed attempts we are finally back in division one where we belong.

The race wasn't our finest but still much better than the first race. We gained rapidly off the start to bump Hughes before we hit the motorway bridge.
(Andrew Farquharson)
Bomber gave us a drill to do on the way down. Apparently this made all the difference as we didn't have to row past the A14 bridge (Missilomanic)
Thursday
Bumped Robinson
Quite possibly our worst row as a crew. We muscled it along and had just enough muscle to get a good outcome. Manifesting a clean and un-panicked row for tomorrow. (Sam Pearson)
Friday
Bumped Lady Margaret II
We did what we set out to do: hit our rhythm and trust it. Maggie clearly went for a big 3 minutes but it wasn't quite enough to catch Fitz. They then went BANG on Ditton causing a rather large speed difference when we hit them (or more accurately, when I hit their cox) rather hard.  (Sam Pearson)
We rowed this a little too much like a head race.

Conveniently, when we were just moving into the push from ditton corner to really set the rhythm to move on up the reach, Maggie got in the way.

Like really in the way. Ouch.

The river bleeds Maggie Red tonight...
